About this audiobook

Tyler Murphy was an LAPD detective, single and happy-until a near-fatal tragedy crippled his friend, fellow detective Eric Catalano. While Tyler supported Eric, he also became a shoulder for Eric's wife, Delaney, to lean on. But with one naughty suggestion from Eric, a drunken night with Delaney spilled into erotic abandon. Before it was over, Tyler saw his best friend's wife as a woman and yearned for more. When Eric struggled to deal with the aftermath, Delaney begged Tyler to leave. Crushed, he fled to Louisiana, hoping to escape his longing for the one woman he could never have again...and unaware of what he'd left behind.

After two years of living with regret, Tyler finds Delaney on his doorstep, her husband having abandoned her long ago. She's protecting a shocking secret and desperately needs refuge from a stalker determined to see her dead. As they fight to stay alive and catch the killer, they struggle to resolve the guilt of their past pleasures. But they can't deny that what was once a spark is now a flame burning out of control. To possess Delaney-body and soul-Tyler must heal her pain and thwart the evil that's a mere breath behind her.

What it was supposed to be. Great romance, sexy sex, stupid and obvious suspense story. It would have been a 4 but for the use of "Homey" several times to denote a Black gang banger. The usage was both horribly dated and pretty darn racist.

Tyler Murphy has only ever loved one woman, Delaney Catalano, his best friend's wife. When an unplanned intimate encounter shatters their lives, Tyler and Delaney go their separate ways. But now circumstances have reuinited them and Tyler is determined not to lose the opportunity to regain what he once lost. However, secrets from the past threaten Delaney and Tyler's new found love and the consequences may be fatal.

Series note: This is book #6 in the Wicked Lovers series and while characters from previous stories do put in an appearance, the plot does not necessitate reading in order.

Every once in a while, a book is mentioned in one of my groups that catches my eye. At times these are gems awaiting discovery but at other times, they are better left hidden. This is one of the rare occasions where neither applies, but it was, nevertheless, worth the effort.

Tyler and Delaney have intense chemistry and their scenes together are scorching. The suspense plot is predictable but keeps the pages turning.

All in all, a pleasant way to spend a few hours.

I liked it, but I got incredibly frustraded with Del's actions and reaction to the things Tyler would say and do to her or for her. Tyler was incredible, a touch of a Dom and a über alpha male made him extremelly yummy.

We finally get Tyler Murphy's story and it is a very nice story. We finally get some background on Tyler that has been fairly scarce. We knew that he was a private investigator that was once a detective on Los Angeles Police Department. He came to Lafayette to protect Alyssa from her evil step brother. He is also a lady’s man that never sleeps with the same woman twice. It turns out that he is a father to a son he doesn't know about until the beginning of this story. He was part of a ménage that went terribly wrong and it caused him to lose his best friend and the woman that he cared for more than any other. I was a little uncertain about the story, I was afraid that it would involve an affair gone wrong. But that is not the case. Tyler and Delaney probably should have considered the request from Eric but the combination of alcohol and pleading from Eric led to a very bad decision. It was great to see Tyler in action against the scumbag that was after Delaney. I also loved that he showed a little bit of a dominant side, that is always a plus in my books.Delaney Catalano had what she thought was a happy marriage and a great friend. She lost both of them, will one of them only for two years. She made Tyler leave and she still blames him for not staying around. She also can’t get past Tyler’s life a Lothario. She just can’t see that a man can change when the right person comes into his life. She is also way too confident about her ability to handle a man that is determined to kill her. She has no training in dealing with the evil of the world. She has no resources to help her keep herself safe and undetected. While there were times that I wanted to take Del out and spank her myself she does come to realize that Tyler is out to protect and help her and that he might actually love her.We get to see some familiar faces in this story. There is Jack and Morgan (Morgan is still pregnant), Deke and Kimber and their son Caleb, Luc and Alyssa and their daughter Chloe, Tara and Kata. Logan and Hunter are away on deployment so they aren't in this story. We also get to learn more about Xander Santiago. I am looking forward to his story and maybe that of his brother Javier. I love seeing how all these people have formed a family and community. I hope that we continue to get updates on how they are all doing. This is a good story that moves along well. I found myself needing to know what was going to happen next. The villain could have come from any newspaper in today’s society. It seems politics breed corruption. There is a good bit of sex throughout this story and those scenes are well written and steaming hot. I look forward to future books in this series.

Before I get into the nuts and bolts of the review, let me say that I am a HUGE fan of Ms. Black and thus, this review breaks my heart to write.I have followed along, quite stalkerish if you ask me, the Wicked Lovers series since she released the novels. I found each on riveting, hanging on to every word. I had hoped to find the same with this book but while the ones before were smooth and surprising, Mine To Hold felt choppy, predictable, and at times cliché. I honestly do not know how to get into describing the characters and the plot without giving the entire book away so I’ll say this. While the plot was good, the scenes seemed to drag it down. Some of the words the characters said seemed cliché and had me wondering why the author wanted them to come across as such. Truth be told, Tyler came across as a crude jerk at times. However, what I will say is the love was undeniable written between Tyler and Del. It was swoon worthy and very sweet.I gave it three stars out of five due to the clichés and writing; however, I do hope the next release will be as good as the first five books Ms. Black wrote for this series. I am diligently crossing me fingers in hopes of.
