Reviews for Pinky and Rex
13 ratings2 reviews
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Another short chapter book about Pinky. This book sends an excellent message about friendship. Pinky is embarrassed and the whole class laughs at him but luckily he has a friend to comfort him.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Pinky, Rex and Amanda are going to the museum. Pinky has 27 stuffed animals, Rex has 27 dinosaurs and Amanda has 13 stuffed animals. The three children find themselves in a dilemma when all three have their eyes set on the same stuffed pink dinosaur at the museum gift shop. How will they solve the problem? This book is a simple story but I think it can be used to promote critical thinking. How do you solve this problem fairly? The three come to a decision they all feel is fair but I think this book would be great at looking at alternative ways to deal with the problem. The book is also a wonderful anti-bias book. Pinky is a boy who loves pink and stuffed animals and Rex is a girl who loves dinosaurs, Amanda is the pesty little sister, I think having books around that are anti-bias is essential when building a good collection of children's literature for a classroom library.
