About this audiobook

In this stunning sequel to A Thousand Pieces of You by New York Times bestselling author Claudia Gray, Marguerite must race through various dimensions in a desperate attempt to save the boy she loves.

Ever since she used the Firebird, her parents' invention, to cross through to alternate dimensions, Marguerite has caught the attention of enemies who will do anything to force her into helping them dominate the multiverse—even hurt the people she loves. She resists until her boyfriend, Paul, is attacked, and his consciousness is scattered across multiple dimensions.

The hunt for each splinter of Paul's soul sends Marguerite racing through a war-torn San Francisco, the criminal underworld of New York City, and a glittering Paris, where another Marguerite hides a shocking secret.

Each dimension brings Marguerite one step closer to rescuing Paul. But with every trial she faces, she begins to question the one constant she's found between the worlds: their love for each other.

I like this sequel better than the first book. the characters have more depth and the story is more intense. Like I said in my past reviews, I'm really not into the whole love triangle arc, but I think Theo is a better fit for Narguerite. Marguerite's character still irritates me, but not as much as the first book. And I like how her sister - Josie, put Marguerite in place by saying not everything's about her. I think Josie would make a great protagonist. The way the story ended left me intrigued enough to look forward to the third book.

I got a copy of this book from Edelweiss to review. This is the 2nd book in the Firebird trilogy. I enjoyed this book a lot, not quite as much as the first one, but it was still well done. We journey to a few new realities in this book and there are some huge twists that will leave readers breathless. This 2nd book in the Firebird series also sports an amazing cover again!Marguerite is desperate to save Paul and tracks his Firebird to a new reality to save him. When she gets there she is shocked to find out that Paul doesn’t recognize her, even with multiple reminders. Maguerite quickly finds out that the head of Triad corporation, Wyatt Conley, has splintered Paul’s consciousness . Now Marguerite is stuck. In order to find the scattered pieces of Paul’s consciousness she must journey to these different realities and perform the tasks Triad has set for her into order to get the next set of coordinates for the locations of Paul’s consciousness. This was an excellent story. I absolutely loved Marguerite as a character and her determination and belief in love across realities. She is obviously a survivor and has a positive attitude. It was interesting to see her confronted with how her actions in different realities in the first book impacted those versions of her in this book. Paul isn’t in the book much this time but Theo travels with Marguerite a lot. This really isn’t so much of a love triangle as it is Theo pining after Marguerite. Theo has huge issues of his own as he tries to recover from the drug that Triad had him on in the first book.I love the different realities we travel through; it is amazing to be a visitor in these worlds. I enjoyed how the same characters across different realities has echoes of the same personality across those realities. It is an interesting look at the whole nature versus nurture question. I also really loved all the twists and turns in the story; there are some huge revelations and surprises in here. The story ended on a huge cliffhanger and I found that to be disappointing. We don’t need a cliffhanger to keep us reading this series, why do that to your readers? Anyway you have been warned. Overall this is a very well done continuation of this story. I didn’t find it quite as compelling as the first book because we have already seen a lot of these ideas in that first book. I really loved the travel between different realities, the awesome characters and all the surprising twists and turns to the story. This is definitely a series I would recommend picking up it’s very unique and engaging.

This book was a wild ride! All the different multiverses, finding out the big bad’s scheme, Marguerite learning more about herself and the people she loves. I cannot wait to find out how this series ends.

Second book about dimension-hopping Marguerite, forced to travel through multiple different versions of herself to find the scattered pieces of her true love Paul. In the process, she finds some complicating factors to what she’d convinced herself was her destiny to love Paul no matter what—call it “the perils of Paul,” maybe. It’s interesting to see the fandom convention of the –verse suffix in use to identify the different places she travels; several big pieces, such as the reappearance of a person who didn’t seem very important at first, seem like setup for the big finale, and the ending cliffhanger certainly is.

Review courtesy of Dark Faerie TalesQuick & Dirty: This was everything I wanted and more in a sequel! Gray’s writing is exceptional and she does an amazing job weaving a gorgeous, thought provoking story that you won’t want to put down.Opening Sentence: The first time I traveled to another dimension, I intended to take a life. The Review:Marguerite Cain’s life changed when she used the Firebird invention her parents created that allowed her to travel through the different parallel dimensions. She has caught the attention of some very dangerous people that will go to great lengths to make her help them in their quest to dominate the universe! She has refused to help, but these are the type of people you can’t say no to. When Paul, the love of her life, has his soul splintered into multiple pieces, Marguerite is forced to work with her enemies!Marguerite must race across the different dimensions to try and collect all the scattered pieces of Paul. Each new world has its own trials and each Marguerite is so different. Marguerite knew that each dimension was different but she always believed that there was a certain destiny she would ultimately achieve in each world. She soon finds out that isn’t the case and she starts to questions her own personal fate!Marguerite is such an amazing heroine! From the first moment I met her in A Thousand Pieces of You, I instantly adored her and my love for her just grew in this book. She is a very strong, intelligent, and interesting character. One of the best things about this story is you get to visit so many different versions of Marguerite. In each parallel world she is different, but Marguerite thought that there would be certain fundamentals characteristics about her life that would always tend to be the same and that’s not exactly true. In some of the world’s she visits in this story she is a very unalike from her normal self and it was really interesting to see the good, the bad, and the ugly parts of her personality. She is such a dynamic character and I really enjoy being inside her head!Theo is such a charming guy, it’s pretty much impossible to not adore him! He is funny, sweet, and just one of those people that always knows how to brighten the mood. His relationship with Marguerite is very interesting. Personally, I thought that they had a more brother/sister type of relationship, but this book explores a few other options for them. I really enjoyed getting to know Theo better and I am very interested to see what happens to him in the next book! How do I express how much I LOVE Paul! He is super smart, ridiculously sweet, and totally makes me think of a gentle giant because he is described as a pretty big guy. He is very reserved and has slightly awkward people skills, so it has been hard for him to really open up to other people. But the few people he has let in mean the world to him and he will do anything for them. What I liked best about him in this book was that we got to learn so much more about his background and where he comes from. You also get to see the darker side of him and what his life would have been like had he chosen different paths. I felt like I got to fall in love with him all over again in this story and I really enjoyed that! The romance is this story is done perfectly and I personally think Paul and Marguerite are epic together. They are very different but they complement each other really well! That doesn’t mean they don’t have their problems, but they fight for each other even when times get tough! They have amazing chemistry and I love everything about them! They are one of my favorite book couples of all time!Ten Thousand Skies Above You had some really big shoes to fill because I loved the first book so much and man did it deliver! From the very first page I was drawn back into the intriguing world and the action starts right off. The plot had a few surprises that I wasn’t excepting and the pacing was spot on. There was never a dull moment and I think I ended up finishing this in just a few sitting! Like I already stated, the romance was epic, steamy and done perfectly. The characters were engaging and easy to connect with. One thing I love most about books that explore parallel worlds is that they can be very thought provoking. It makes you wonder what your life would be like if you had made different decisions and I loved that we got to explore that with the characters in this series. Gray’s writing is exceptional and she does an amazing job weaving a gorgeous, thought provoking story that you won’t want to put down. I can’t wait to read the final book in the series, too bad I have to wait another year for it! If you are a science fiction fan or if you are just looking for an amazing book to read, I recommend you give this series a try!Notable Scene:Writing the words down reminds me of a hundred beautiful moments: Paul and me standing beneath the redwoods, staring up at the canopy of green leaves so impossibly far overhead. Making out in his dorm room, hearing his breath quicken as he pulls me closer. Him giving me a bouquet of pink roses on Valentine’s Day, which I should’ve thought was cheesy but instead reduced me to a giddy puddle. Sketching him that evening, totally overcome by his physical presence.Making Lasagna together the night before Thanksgiving.Talking about my paintings, and how he thought they always told the truth.Learning that he’d risked everything to protect me and rescue my father. Here, now, this moment, recognizing how much of what we are is truly between him and me alone.FTC Advisory: HarperTeen provided me with a copy of Ten Thousand Skies Above You. Well, that didn't suck as much as it COULD have, given that for the first time in my experience, an author actually RE-OPENED the love triangle she'd successfully closed in the previous book (I know). The stakes were much more interesting, the plot more delicately woven. I enjoyed Marguerite's inner journey, even if I wanted to hit her over the head multiple times. Still, I might actually pick up the conclusion, after this one!

First off, I am not a fan of cliffhangers. They totally turn me off and if I know about them in advance, I generally don't read that series or at least put it off until all the books are out. So be warned if you don't like cliffhangers either. As for the plot, it took me a bit to get back into this story. The first part of the book was slow. So much so, that I even contemplated abandoning the book. In the end I struggled on and really liked the second half of the book. The pace picked up and there were some twists that I enjoyed. So in the end I got sucked back into the story. Another problem with this book is the character of Marguerite. I felt she was too young for the story. She should have been at least 25. Her actions just did not fit her age and that bugged me. On the plus side, I adored the narrator. One of the few that does a good job with the voice of the opposite sex. 4.5 stars for narration.
