Ren Bryce is an FBI agent who is struggling with mental health issues. When a young girl and her sixteen year old hotel baby sitter go missing, Ren is plunged in to a world of deceit, dark family secrets and dodgy goings on at a powerful pharmaceutical company where the young girl's father is a Chief Financial Officer. All this distracts her from her original case, where a teenage girl has been raped and brutally beaten at a local derelict asylum. This is a fast paced and, in the main, an enjoyable read. It kept my attention, but I felt there were far too many characters and it was difficult to keep track of who was who and which case we were dealing with. There were sometimes very amusing "asides" by Ren....what she was really thinking even though her mouth said different! The author also portrayed Ren's mental health problems well. The manic pace at which she attacks her work, very often at the expense of her own safety, was a theme throughout. Was there anything new? No not really, but as a thriller, it stood up well and was just as good as the first two books in the series.
