About this audiobook
Anna Alessi – history expert, possessor of a lot of hair and an occasionally filthy mouth – seeks nice man for intelligent conversation and Mills & Boon moments.
Despite the oddballs that keep turning up on her dates, Anna couldn’t be happier. As a 30-something with a job she loves, life has turned out better than she dared dream. However, things weren’t always this way, and her years spent as the ‘Italian Galleon’ of an East London comprehensive are ones she’d rather forget.
So when James Fraser – the architect of Anna’s final humiliation at school – walks back into her life, her world is turned upside down. But James seems a changed man. Polite. Mature. Funny, even. People can change, right? So why does Anna feel like she’s a fool to trust him?
Hilarious and poignant, Here’s Looking At You will have you laughing one minute and crying the next. The new must-read novel from #1 bestseller Mhairi McFarlane.

- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5It was so horribly slow, as a movie then I think it'd be reasonable maybe but it was so frustratingly average when it could have been so much more.. more something.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I’ve read a LOT of Mhairi McFarlane recently, and I think this is one of my favorites. What I really love about it is how it isn’t too cliche. When confronted with the past, James isn’t all “oh, wow, I’m not that guy, and I never meant it, I actually loved you, blah blah blah” that you see in a lot of romantic comedy books.
He is a flawed character that grows on you without having his past actions erased or minimized. Their relationship grows very naturally and organically.
It was very sweet and very realistic, and not as heavy handed with trauma as some of her other books. - Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5I like the author's books but to be honest, finishing this one felt like a bit of a chore. It had its moments but generally the story felt a bit disjointed and too far fetched for my liking. 2.5/5
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5I love her books, they put the reader through a rollercoaster of feelings , from very low to very high.
The characters are very real , not perfect . It takes a few chapters to really get you interested and then you cannot put it down . - Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Mixed feelings. But I’m giving it a 3,5/4 because I ended up liking it
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I just absolutely love Mhairi’s books. So much more than rom-com, her books always deftly take on a deeper subject with care and thoughtfulness and always pack a punch! And her heroines are spunky, self-made, smart, and don’t suffer fools. This was a good one—exceptional narration too!
