      Having read previous Andrew Gross / James Patterson collaborations, I was expecting this book to be a page-turner, but I actually found it to be far better than I expected!

      Starting with the excellent and very clever bit of marketing: I saw it advertised on a group on Facebook; you could download part 1 for free from Amazon, then parts 2 and 3 separately for a very low price. The book, however, was so good from the very first page, that just a few pages into reading it, I bought & downloaded the full book from Amazon, because I didn't want to have to even interrupt my reading to switch from part 1 to part 2 to part 3.

      The plot jumps effortlessly between the two parallel stories that will eventually intertwine, the characters draw you in and the energy flows through the entire book, taking the reader on an exciting and heart-pounding journey through government conspiracies, Mexican drug cartels and a woman's desperate attempts to clear her name and claim her life back.

      My only criticism would be that, throughout the book, an almost-one-night-stand is mentioned in almost puritanical terms over and over again and as I read it, I kept thinking "really, with everything else going on in this woman's life, is that really what she'd be focusing on?!".

      That aside, a thoroughly enjoyable read that I struggled to put down.

      Wendy Gould, a former police officer, had a major argument with her husband one evening. She made plans to meet a girlfriend at a bar the next evening to talk to her. Long story short: Her friend doesn?t show up, texts her that she can?t make it, and Wendy; for the first time in her life, goes up to the hotel room with a very handsome, talented, nice man. What happens next is not what she, or the reader expects. Wendy witnesses his murder, kills a federal agent, and has to flee to protect herself and her family.Meanwhile, Lauritzia Velez, a nanny, is also running away from some terrible events. Most of her family have been murdered by a gang, the Los Zetas. Wendy realizes that in order to clear her name, she must not only find out who the murderer and his associate are but learn their motive. The Mexican drug trade becomes the obvious connection but American officials also seem to be involved.There was a lot of action and the story kept moving but I found the book irritating in two ways: The author likes to use sentence fragments. Lots of them. On every page. He also repeats things several times as if he doesn?t think the reader can remember all the details from one chapter to the next. I would have quit reading early on but wanted to know how it ended

      I enjoyed the read, I liked it but the story was OK. I would give it more of a 3.5 stars on Amazon but here it is really barely a 3 which is the marking for I liked it. I didn't really like it, and I did not LIKE it.. I found it OK!

      The novel was written to be fast paced and with an almost hopping manner of prose. At first I was not sure what I was going to be getting with the prologue but it was shown later on in the story, still after that was exposed it fit a very fundamental and predictable manner. Andrew Gross is an amazing writer, which shows through in this story and to have nothing new to the formula of the mystery. Here is the thing, the beginning was awesome! Wendy, one of our protagonist (the main one)is quite clever.... way to clever, to a point where I was *faceplant* a bit unreal, it was fun, granted but it was not believable. Again because it was formulaic there were many cliches the fact she bought into any of these promises and yet she was suppose to be so smart and and... well I was frustrated. About halfway through I almost stopped but kept up because the writing was good. HENCE my OK I thought it was better than OK but not as good as a full four star LIKE rating!

      I have read Gross before and was expecting more out of this book. Again, his expert level of writing and story telling saved an average story build with average players. THOUGH her ex boss is my favorite! The rest of it? THe mafia and the... I got messed up confused and kind of just let that part waffle in the wind. They play a huge part, this mexican mafia, but to me they were even more cliche than the rest. AGAIN he has a great voice, this one just did not hit he mark of excellence I expected from the author!

      An edge of your seat thriller that has you quickly turning pages through the short chapters The story is compelling and a roller coaster ride. If you love thrillers, this is the book for you! The characters are flawed and real and ones that you can relate to. The writing is brilliant! Pick up this 4 star book today!

      No Way Back by Andrew Gross is a fast paced story about a woman in the wrong place at the wrong time and a nanny who's father is wanted by a drug cartel in Mexico. After the deaths of loved ones for both women they end up on the run together to right some wrongs. A spine tingling, edge of the seat read that just makes you want more. I love Andrew Gross's writing, I have been a fan of his since he co wrote with James Patterson. His style of writing is his own though, his characters believable and the suspense palpable. If you have not read an Andrew Gross book, you absolutely must and when you do you are in for a treat.

      Suburban mom Wendy Gould, angry with her husband, wants to talk it out with her friend. While waiting in a Manhattan bar for her friend, (who never shows), she makes the mistake and accepting an invitation to a stranger?s hotel room. Only then she realizes her mistake, and while in the bathroom he is confronted by another and murdered. Protecting herself, she murders the murderer, only to be hunted by the DEA, FBI and every other law enforcement agency. To clear her name, she takes matters into her own hands to find out why. The action starts right away and never lets up in this fast paced thriller. Although, it was easy to figure out, leaving little suspense, I thought the story telling was superb and the character of Wendy believable. Once she connects with the other lead character, Lauritzia Velez (daughter of a drug cartel enforcer) the situations become a little far-fetched. Drug cartels in bed with the USA is not something new but Andrew Gross novels are well worth reading.

      The story details the misfortunes of two women as we see the predicament they are in and see their paths come together in hope of rescuing their situation.Wendy had an argument with her husband and ended up with a strange man at a hotel room. When she was in the bathroom, another man entered the room and murdered Wendy's companion. Then the man tried to stage the scene by leaving a weapon by the body. Wendy came from the bathroom, picked up the gun and told the killer she was an ex-cop but the man moved to shoot and she fired back and killed him. When she checks his I.D. she sees he's a member of Homeland Security. Panicked, she runs and sees the man's partner in the hotel. The race is on.Lauritzia is a nanny with a past that is secret. When she's at the mall with the children under her care, a man recognizes her and tries to kill her. She and the children escape and we follow the events that led up to this point.The heart pounding plot moves from one woman to another as the story unfolds. Revenge, brave women and appealing characters abound in this well written thriller.

      When Wendy, a married woman, goes back to a stranger's hotel room, she becomes involved in more than she bargained for. This is a suspenseful story involving government cover-ups, drug cartels, and lots of drama to keep everything covered up. A good, quick, suspenseful fast read. I have really enjoyed this author in the past. I hope his story line and story telling does not move so fast it becomes like James Patterson...that would be a shame.

      I won this book from a Goodreads First Reads giveaway.This book caught my attention right from the start and just held on tightly! It was definitely a page turner full of suspense. I enjoyed it quite a lot. I've read books by Andrew Gross before, but only ones that he did jointly with James Patterson, so I had a good idea of what to expect and I was not disappointed. I will be reading more of his solo endeavors.
