His body of work includes the novels A Farewell to Arms, For Whom the Bell Tolls, and The Sun Also Rises. He won the Pulitzer Prize for his novella The Old Man and the Sea, and in 1954 was awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature.

    I find it hard to believe that Hemingway is considerd a great writer and that this novel is hist finest work. His prose is dry and uninspiring and the subect matter of this novel, a group of dissolute, bored ex -patriates, is depressing and unpleasant. However, the narration is pretty good :).
