About this audiobook

In The Tenant of Wildfell Hall, Anne Brontë created a strong, modern heroine who challenged the prevailing morals and politics of the Victorian era.

When Helen Graham shut her bedroom door on her abusive, drunken husband, it was a door-slam heard around the world. Escaping to Wildfell Hall after a loveless marriage, Helen, the mysterious tenant, lives in quiet seclusion, but her reclusive nature quickly becomes the subject of local gossip.

Gilbert Markham, a young farmer, becomes intrigued with Ms Graham and soon discovers the shocking secrets of her dark past...

Loved the story, but this audiobook was not good! I liked the narrators all right, but they skipped huge chunks of the novel! So much for unabridged...

the narrators are good HOWEVER this is the "mutilated" version of the novel and it doesn't say so anywhere so...
truly a bummer to realize this is the case after 42 of 53 chapters of the book

I binge-listened to this book! Brilliantly read. It was sometimes hard to follow which character was speaking while the man narrated, he didn't have the same voice range as the woman, but it was still an excellent listen. I think this is my first foray into Bronte; I'll definitely be seeking out more. Thanks for making this book available!

A magnificent piece of literature. I simply adore the novel.

The most long winded, most melodramatic, least engaging of all the Brontë books, but still well worth the many hours of listening. The narration kept the interest going.

After awhile the narrators voice makes you mad! It’s a decent story but exasperating as so many stories of the time are.

The greatest Bronte book of all, without any doubt at all.

She does go on a bit, but it is a well written story.
