About this audiobook

Following the runaway success of her stunning rendition of Pride and Prejudice, award-winning narrator Alison Larkin returns—breathing new life into Jane Austen’s Emma. Celebrating the 200th anniversary of the book, Larkin—a witty and always original voice— is the perfect vessel to bring this classically satirical novel to a new audience. A fresh and hugely entertaining listen, Larkin, also an acclaimed comedienne and the bestselling author of The English American, joins her voice deftly with Austen’s clever style and the result is pure boundless FUN.

"The bell-like quality of Larkin’s sweetly accented voice harkens back to another, quieter, time. However, her delivery of this much-loved matchmaking story offers a flexibility that is contemporary and easy to hear." – AudioFile Magazine

Author

Jane Austen

Jane Austen was born in 1775 in rural Hampshire, the daughter of an affluent village rector who encouraged her in her artistic pursuits. In novels such as Pride and Prejudice, Mansfield Park and Emma she developed her subtle analysis of contemporary life through depictions of the middle-classes in small towns. Her sharp wit and incisive portraits of ordinary people have given her novels enduring popularity. She died in 1817.
