About this audiobook
Frances Hodgson Burnett's classic children's novel is about orphaned Mary Lennox, who is sent to live with her uncle at Misslethwaite Manor in Yorkshire. Initially a sour, bad-tempered child, Mary begins to bloom under the influence of nature when she discovers a long-abandoned garden on the grounds of her uncle's estate. Burnett's novel is brought to life by LibriVox volunteers who lend their voices to her characters.

Frances Hodgson Burnett
Frances Hodgson Burnett (1849–1924) grew up in England, but she began writing what was to become The Secret Garden in 1909, when she was creating a garden for a new home in Long Island, New York. Frances was a born storyteller. Even as a young child, her greatest pleasure was making up stories and acting them out, using her dolls as characters. She wrote over forty books in her lifetime.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5A Classic!
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5I really like the book
I really like the book - Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I have loved this story since the first time I read it as a child. It is full of every emotion known. It is full of anguish, sorrow, despair, and even more, of love.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I watched the film as a kid and enjoyed but the book is simply magical. I loved this book!
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5One of my favorite stories of all time. But I'm not a huge fan of this reading of it. Ben weatherstaff, Colin and Mary and Dicken were read well enough but the Dr was terrible and the narrator was just reading with no passion for the exciting bits, almost like an automated voice. The BBC reading is MUCH better
