"Nobody could have had a better childhood," Lisa remarks, her twinkling eyes and got-away-with-something-grin giving her a youthful appearance that defies the fact that she is in her mid-40s and the mother of two college-age sons. "My childhood was enchanted. We were a small, tightly knit family. My mum and dad were and still are my greatest supporters." Why then does Lisa write lousy dads and conniving relatives into the plots of books that regularly earn berths on such national bestseller lists as USA Today's and Waldenbooks'? "I think the deepest angst people can experience is what can develop among family members, because our emotions run so deep there," Lisa replied. "Deep down, we care about these people, but being related doesn't mean we think alike or want the same things. I also think manipulative people are fascinating. Characters like those help me to keep the readers' interest. I love it when readers write me to complain that they didn't get any sleep the night before because they had to finish my book." Lisa studied English Literature at Oregon State University for two years before she married. In 1981, when her younger son was a year old, she began writing novels. But she decided she needed a steady income and landed a nine-dollar-per-hour bank job. Before she could begin work, however, her supervisor was arrested for embezzling. "About then I sold my first book, A Twist of Fate, which — guess what! — was about a woman suspected of bank embezzling. It was purely coincidental. The story came out of my background in banking," Lisa provided. "But I guess you could say, if not for a bank embezzler, I might not have made it as an author." In addition to suspenseful contemporary page-turners, Lisa also delivers medieval romances set in eleventh and twelfth century Wales. "I enjoy doing these medieval period pieces, because women were so trod upon then. By nature of their lot in life, I can generate empathy or sympathy for the medieval heroines. They're underdogs from the get-go. Tell me what woman doesn't root for the underdog!" Britannia Roads, a creative Lansing, Michigan tour packager, read the first in Lisa's medieval trilogy and loved her writing so much that she designed a tour of Wales, with Lisa as the featured guest. Tour members will visit some of Princess Diana's favourite places to stay in Ruthin Castle. They'll be in for a treat when Lisa regales them with author stories during the tour, for she is as talented at public speaking as she is at writing novels. When not writing, Lisa enjoys spectator sports, reading, watching The X-Files and socialising now that she's a single mum. Her favourite authors include Pat Conroy, Nelson DeMille, Stephen King, Patricia Cornwell, Dick Francis, and other authors who also write compelling page-turners.

Lisa Jackson has a very twisted killer in this book, who kills with the cold. Taking an obsessed fan to new levels, he abducts women with the same physical characteristics as Jenna (won't tell you why, that would be a major spoiler, but trust me it is creepy) and leaves dead bodies behind him and seems to be unstoppable.You wonder how he is able to do everything he does, but it is not revealed until the end and when everyone knows, then you wonder how can anyone stop him.Another thing I like about Lisa Jackson, is her endings are not all the same, like some authors that I have stopped reading. She has fresh twists to her books.

      Another masterpiece by LJ. I haven't been disappointed by any of Ms. Jackson's books and Deep Freeze was no exception. This book kept me on the edge of my seat and I just had to keep turning the pages. If all you want is a sappy romance novel then buy a harlequin...Ms. Jackson is a master of suspense with a tad of romance thrown in.

      I thought this was a solid piece of suspense writing, despite being a little slow in spots. The focus is on Jenna Hughes, a successful Hollywood actress who gave it all up after a professional and personal tragedy, and her two daughters. Someone is stalking her, but in a very round-about way. Not only is there a good cast of characters, from the Sheriff to the overprotective neighbor to the best friend, but the weather itself is a character. The cold and the weather get in the way at every turn.I think some of the parts where you’re in the killer’s head could have been cut back a bit — it got repetitive. But other than that, I don’t have many complaints. A little more romance would have made it perfect. Eventually, the romantic connection is made, but there’s not enough room left in the book for it to breathe.

      4.5 starsJenna was an actress until an accident on her last movie. She quit and left for a small town in Oregon, after divorcing her husband and taking her two teenage daughters with her. Unfortunately, there seems to be a serial killer in the area, and Jenna seems to be the target of smaller crimes. Probably not the most exciting summary, but I was really hooked on this one! I could call it a mystery, a thriller, suspenseful, and horror. I added in horror after reading one night before bed and having to convince myself to get up and do the nightly routine, including heading to the basement to clean the cat litter! Didn’t want to head down there... Although she wrapped up this book, at the end she started up what will be the second book in the series. I had already decided if it was a series, I’d be continuing; she didn’t need the cliffhanger to convince me.
