- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5There was lots of action and there was always something going on.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Kind of like Dave Barry's "Big Trouble" written for a middle school audience. Nerdy, timid and cautious Wyatt Palmer is on a middle school class trip to Washington, D.C., and trouble starts on the plane trip there, when he and his best friend Matt begin to suspect that the two "weird guys" behind them on the plane might be terrorists. They, along with a few other friends, including the completely fearless Suzana (on whom Wyatt has a teriffic crush), quickly become deeply involved in international espionage, and the pace of the antics increases steadily right up to the end of the book. Fun, light, silly, and wonderfully plotted and told.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Got this in anticipation of my kids class trip to DC in a couple of months and listened with the family on a road trip. Dave Barry has always been a favorite humor columnist of mine, and he didn't disappoint. It was hilarious. We were all laughing and very much enjoyed the awkward antics of Wyatt and his 8th grade friends as they attempt to thwart a terrorist plot.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5This is a humorous novel.Wyatt Palmer’s friend Matt has a tendency to open his mouth when he shouldn’t. On the plane to their class trip, Matt is convinced there are terrorists sitting behind him and Wyatt. He’s so convinced that they are intent on bombing the White House, that he steals a mechanical item that looks important. The terrorist end up kidnapping Matt because of this theft. Suzana, whom Wyatt likes, loves action and jumps in to solve the problem of the object and getting Matt back. She devises ways to get away from the class and parent sponsors. The novel all leads up to the climax of stopping a terrorist attack. The novel is cute; if you like amusing stories where the characters are not very smart and the plot is a wee bit far-fetched, go for this novel. I like the humor; I didn’t like the stupidity of the plot. Don’t get me wrong--it’s cute, but it hurt my brain to be so ridiculous.
