About this audiobook
The quiet Dutch community of Sleepy Hollow lay in the Adirondack mountains on the western shore of the mighty Hudson River in America’s colonial period. The solitude of the woods was breathtaking, and not even a schoolmaster was immune from the eerie miasma which everyone knew permeated the dense forest. Written in 1820, Washington Irving’s The Legend Of Sleepy Hollow has become a classic of American literature, and has been retold in many different ways. Here is the original, from Irving’s own hand.

- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5While the narrator was great there was a lot of emphasis on descriptions of food and a lot less on the spooky stuff. It is atmospheric enough for a fun Halloween read but for such a popular and culturally significant tale it really felt underwhelming.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5The story itself really isn’t much of anything. The reading would be fine but for some egregious recording issues that lead to rolling thunder in the track. I had to keep stopping to check that my upstairs neighbour wasn’t stomping about.
