About this audiobook

Hurt people hurt people.

Say there was a novel in which Holden Caulfield was an alcoholic and Lolita was a photographer’s assistant and, somehow, they met in Bright Lights, Big City. He’s blinded by love. She by ambition. Diary of an Oxygen Thief is an honest, hilarious, and heartrending novel, but above all, a very realistic account of what we do to each other and what we allow to have done to us.

this book detailed the most intimate parts of a man’s thoughts and feelings and i could’ve gone the rest of my life without reading it. although i’ve heard praise for the book being honest, insightful, and real it really was about how a grown man likes to hurt women emotionally and can not take it when he is treated the same way. if i wanted to hear a self-loathing man complain about how he hates women and the world is out to get him i would’ve just called my ex.

I was at Barnes and nobles and I saw this book on the shelf. I thought to myself “that’s interesting.” I read the first 2 lines and knew I wanted to read the book. It was on scribd. Yay! I have known guys like the protagonist (or should I say antagonist). This book actually conjures up memories of a guy who broke my heart. It was interesting how honestly he writes about how much he relishes inflicting emotional pain and manipulating these women. At the end, when he gets his comeuppance we’ve heard him speak so openly it’s as if he doesn’t actually deserve what he’s getting back. The story was quite short. I liked how he had such a conversational tone, referencing the fact that he is writing a book and even wondering if it will get published. Well, it did. Congratulations, Anonymous. You did it!

Probably one of the worst books I’ve ever read. It’s hard to follow, boring, and literally just a misogynistic man whining about loving hurting women but being butt hurt when they do it back to him. 0/10 absolutely do no recommend. Totally overhyped.

Waste of time. Thank gosh it was only 3 hours. Literally not even sure what this book is about as it was all over. Find something else to listen to as this was boring.

Really makes you understand a man that at first seemed like an awful person, you get to hear him out, maybe even sympathize. I for one understand Loya of his feelings, I’ve had troubles with alcoholism myself and I love to hear someone out.
