About this audiobook

He left KoRn to help himself. He went back to help others. And along the way, he nearly lost everything.

A life-changing spiritual awakening freed Brian “Head” Welch from a stranglehold of drugs and alcohol and prompted him to leave the highly successful nu-metal band KoRn in 2005. What followed was a decade-long trial by fire, from the perils of fathering a teen lost in depression and self-mutilation to the harsh realities of playing solo and surviving the shattering betrayal of a trusted friend. In this intensely inspiring redemption saga, perhaps most inspiring is Brian’s radical decision to rejoin KoRn and reconcile with the tribe of people he once considered family in the metal music scene.

Brian returned to his musical roots with a clear head and a devoted heart. Though his story is wild, hilarious, and deeply poignant, the message is simple: God will love you into the freedom of being yourself, as long as you keep the relationship going and never, ever quit.

I loved hearing Brian narrate his truth. I related so much to his struggles and only pray that my future walk with GOD becomes as intimate as his.

Too much Jesus for my taste, but good stories nonetheless.

What a wonderful recounting of an excruciatingly challenging period of the author's life and how God pulled him though. Welch's reading is natural and endearing. And what a blessing that the metal community has this unlikely bridge to Jesus through Brian Welch. Highly recommend!

I am so far from a metal fan. With that said, this is one of the greatest books I’ve read! His raw truth is gripping. I can relate to Brian so much. Truly a MUST read!

Preciosa y original historia de redención.Increíble ver los planes de Dios en cada una de las vidas,aún antes de haberlo conocida, hermoso cómo Él sincroniza todo y usa nuestros erros para bien de los que permaecen en Él.

Brian 'Head' Welch left nu-metal KoRn after becoming a Christian, his need to get free from alcohol and drugs abuse and the urgency to spend more time with his daughter Jennea. As a single parent, still struggling with depressions and anger, Welch fought his way out with the help of God, friends, and family. Whereas his first book Save Me from Myself, this second With My Eyes Wide Open: Miracles and Mistakes on My Way Back to KoRn, tells honestly and transparent about the many bad business decisions in the past decade, the fights and search for help to his daughter, the solo career, assembling his band, Love and Death, and ultimately his reunion with his friends in KoRn and handing over Jeannea to the Awakening Youth program.Welch lost (almost) everything, but kept his faith. Christian friends who betrayed him as business partner. Many lawsuits, and ultimately going bankrupt. The author is bloody serious about prayers being answered, Jesus Christ showing himself in troubled times, and life-changing miracles he was able to see parenting, reaching out after concerts or reading emails from fans. He tells about both fellow Christians who don't accept his role in the metal scene or the many tattoos on his body. Yet, there's another set of people you wouldn't expect to appear in Welch's world. People ranging from Michael W. Smith, and RED, Paramore singer Hayley Williams' mother to the Bethel Church with its worship bands and leaders like Bethel Music, Jesus Culture, and Jenn Johnson. The letter from Jennea at the end of the book is a fine statement of how people can change and testify of the strong bond of love between parents and children.
