      This is a very sweet tale about love and loss, life and death and the happiest day in a woman’s life. The story moves back and forth in time (I will admit I’m getting a bit tired of this in novels.) as we learn of the lives of the two women important in the history of the wedding shop in Heart’s Bend, Tennessee. Cora Scott inherits the shop from her aunt and turns it into a going concern and even keeps it profitable during the Depression. She dresses brides as they find love but she herself is blind to what is in front of her.Haley Morgan and her best friend played as young girls in the abandoned wedding shop and when she comes home after a bad break up she decides that opening the wedding shop is what she needs to do. She’s finished with her career in in the Air Force and she needs something to do – why not resurrect her old dream? But she will need a lot of help. Perhaps Cole, her old childhood friend who is now a contractor can help her rebuild the shop and her heart.The Wedding Shop is part of a trilogy yet it easily stands alone. It’s a quick, easy read that doesn’t tax the reader. The story is like a bowl of ice cream – light, sweet with perhaps a few nuts tossed in – you know just what you are getting and are happy to have it. It was a nice breather book from all of the deeper, heavier reads I have on my schedule.

      Great story!!!

      This book took me a while to read due to my crazy schedule, but I am pleased to say that I enjoyed it. The author did a fine job of intertwining the stories of Cora, Charlotte, Haley, and Cole. I may read more books by this author if they are this good.

      I tried an audio version of this book. It had it's pros and cons. The person reading was great, her different accents and voice inflection's kept me interested the entire time. The story also was very interesting and exciting as all of Rachel Hauck books are. The problem I had, I was trying to multi-task by quilting too and I kept getting confused as to who was talking and when. If I had an actual book or Kindle I could have re-read or found the place to clarify which character was speaking. After saying all of that, I will definitely try another audio-book. I also will continue to read Rachel Hauck, she is one of very favorite writers.

      The Wedding Shop by Rachel Hauck although third in a series with The Wedding Dress and The Wedding Chapel preceding this one, is easily a stand alone book. Cora and Haley are two of the main characters and readers follow their parallel lives through the connection of the wedding shop. Haley is the contemporary character and she is trying to fulfill a childhood dream, one she pinky promise shared with her best friend, to reopen the shop. Can she even buy the shop or will it be razed for a parking lot? Can she raise the money she needs? And just what is in the locked room? The author does a great job of keeping interest as she goes back and forth through time to tell the stories of Cora and Haley's and the men in their lives. The characters are strong and realistic, the story flows well with a few twists and turns and revelations of secrets long held. Faith in God to work thing out, forgiveness and restoration are key themes throughout the story. I look forward to reading the other books in this series. I borrowed a copy of the book from the public library.

      ade me laugh and cry. I really enjoyed how it went back and forth between the present and past. I have been reading this during a trying time in my life but this helped me. Should you follow your dream even when everyone thinks you are crazy. Haley and Cora seem so alike but so different. Cole and Birch seem much alike also. Can a wedding shop help bring people in a town together or will it bring them apart. I look forward to many more books by Rachel Hauck. I received this book from Celebratelit for a fair and honest opinion.

There was no disparity in motive, each being open to what their heart held. I loved this story! So heartfelt by each of them in believing in what they were doing while fulfilling dreams for others as well as themselves, unknowingly. The author's backstory and Pinterest photos weave into this story. A place to gather; mothers, daughters, sisters, aunts, and cousins. A generational burst of love and care for each other.This story is true for today. Friends being a special part of continuing life together. Encouragement and coming alongside; not isolated from each other, but retaining memories and futures alive with hope and acceptance. Shoring up, building together in strength. Upholding dreams that live on, healing that can come to open hearts. Tenderness bursting forth into newness available to change those near and forthcoming ~ a lifetime of continuance!       The Wedding Shop by Rachel Hauck tells the story of Haley Morgan and Cora Beth Scott. Haley Morgan has returned to Heart’s Bend, Tennessee where she grew up. Haley has resigned from the Air Force and needs to decide what to do next. When Haley finds out that The Wedding Shop is going to be torn down for a parking lot, Haley decides it is time to make an old dream come true. When Haley was younger, she dreamed of reopening this shop with her friend, Tammy. Tammy, unfortunately, passed away recently. Haley decides this is a way to save the building and honor her friend. Cole Danner was Tammy’s fiancé (she died before their wedding). Cole runs Danner Construction and is just the right person to help Haley. Haley has to convince the city to let her have the building (instead of selling it to the developers). But that is just the beginning!Cora Beth Scott ran The Wedding Shop after the death of her Aunt Jane. Cora was in her element at the shop. But Cora had a weak spot named Rufus St. Claire, a riverboat captain. Cora was convinced he loved her and was waiting for Rufus to earn enough money so they could settle down. Birch Good was in love with Cora, and he was waiting for her to realize the Rufus was a no good scoundrel. What will it take to open Cora’s eyes? Join Haley as she remodels The Wedding Shop, discovers the shops history as well as Cora’s, and starts a new chapter in her life.The Wedding Shop was a very good book. It is well-written and captured my attention right away. I liked how the author tied everything together. It is such a charming story that is easy to read. The Wedding Shop had a nice small town setting (Heart’s Bend, Tennessee), good characters that a reader can relate too, and an interesting tale. I enjoyed the descriptions of the shop and the beautiful clothes (especially the vintage wedding dresses). Rachel Hauck put some great lessons or messages into The Wedding Shop. The importance of listening to God, the power of prayer, and knowing that God has a plan for your life (it may not be what you have in mind). I give The Wedding Shop 4 out of 5 stars (I liked it). I did find Cora to be a little too naïve (very gullible). Cora seemed to view Rufus through rose colored glasses, but it did fit into the storyline. I like Rachel Hauck’s writing, and I will definitely read her novels in the future.I received a complimentary copy of The Wedding Shop in exchange for an honest evaluation of the novel.       A story that spans decades but becomes so intertwined you won’t see it coming, and it circles around a Wedding Shop.While the modern want to be owner, Haley Morgan, has had a vision for this abandoned shop since she was ten years old, the former owner, Cora Scott, was the recipient of the shop from her Aunt Jane.There are parallel love affairs, and you never see the comparisons of these lives, and then they drop a real bombshell on you and it will blow you away. We work through the deep depression and the crash of 1929, and then in the modern time, greed and blackmail.We also meet back up with Charlotte and the rather magic dress, and again how much these women have in common.A really great hard to put down read, and I really didn’t want it to end, I wanted some more answers.I received this book through the Publisher Zondervan, and was not required to give a positive review.

      If you read "The Wedding Dress" and "The Wedding Chapel" you will definitely love "The Wedding Shop". It is not really necessary to read the previous two books as this book can stand alone but I think you would really enjoy this book more if you read "The Wedding Dress" as Charlotte in that book has a significant role in "The Wedding Shop" toward the end of the book. I won't tell you what since I don't want to spoil the book for you the reader.This book has a dual timeline. Both stories take place in Hearts Bend Tennessee. The first one is Cora Scott who has inheirted her aunt's wedding shop. Cora is a sweet girl who knows the business and cares about her customers. Her one fault is that she pines for a good for nothing riverboat captain. Everyone in the town can see that he is a scoundrel but she is oblivious. She is starry-eyed and in love. I had to keep turning pages to find out how her story ended. Did she have the happy every ending?The second timeline and the modern one was Haley. She returns to Heart's Bend after being in the military and really doesn't know what she wants to do. Her best friend from Heart's Bend had died a few months earlier. She finds out the old wedding shop is vacant and wants to restore it in memory of her best friend who had died. Her best friend's fiance turns up but can she start a relationship with her best friend's fiance? Her best friend is deceased so the fiance is free but she finds it difficult. Also she had secrets from her past that she must deal with before she can find love.There were many questions running through my mind as I was reading this book. I was wondering how the stories would connect. Keep reading. You'll find the connection in the end. Many twists and turns in this book made it quite interesting.Thanks to Netgalley and Zondervan for providing me a digital ARC of this book to read and review.
