This was a short novella with not too much to it, but still a nice story. Not something that I will remember, but a nice way to end off my reading year.

The French Accent was difficult to understand, but the book was fine.

A nice prequel to The Girl You Left Behind. Nothing amazing, but a nice weekend read.

BOOK REVIEW of Honeymoon in Paris by Jojo Moyes

    Rating: 4/5?

?I adored this novella, absolutely perfect. I'd definitely only read AFTER you read The Girl You Left Behind otherwise the characters and the situations they work through won't mean much.

?I absolutely adored getting to see David and Liv on their honeymoon and how they got to buy the painting that is the main focus of The Girl You Left Behind.

?It was also great getting to follow Eduord and Sophie's early days of marriage and how this big burly painter came to life! Jojo Moyes writes such heart warming characters who are so relatable.

?Read this if you are looking for something short, sweet, and sophisticated (more like figs on a cheese board at a picnic than a Mars bar on your day off)

Quick read, I look forward to revisiting the characters in the new novel.

This very brief novel is a prequel to The Girl You Left Behind and introduces the characters of the full novel as they celebrate their honeymoons in Paris. The present day couple, David and Liv struggle with David's overcommitment to his work, which leaves Liv wondering if she made a mistake to marry a man who is more interested in his work than in spending time with her. Similarly, Sophie and Edouard experience misunderstandings regarding Edouard's past relationships and Sophie is left to worry that she may not be enough to hold Edouard's interest in the future. Although brief, this was a nice story that I believe would be best read AFTER one reads The Girl You Left Behind, as it gives the reader a chance to revisit the characters and have a fuller picture of their relationships before the novel took place.

Novella 75 pgs.I read this novella after, rather than before, The Girl You Left Behind, but I enjoyed filling in the back-story, even if it seemed to be reading in reverse. Having said that, I'm not a great fan of short prequels, I'm not sure quite where they sit in the financial world of book sales. It seems to me that the content could often be included in the book and that the extra price is just a racket. Although I really enjoyed Honeymoon in Paris, it's not getting 5 stars because at 1.99 for 75 pages, when compared with 3.66 for 548 pages, it's not value for money. The two lead ladies from The Girl You Left Behind, Sophie and Liv, are newly-weds in this episode. The men, who are largely absent in the main book are now alongside them as both couples spend their honeymoons in Paris, but 80 years apart. These new marriages are having teething troubles, as Sophie's husband introduces her to his Paris circle and Liv's husband attempts to mix work and play. Knowing the female characters as I do from the next book, I enjoyed meeting their husbands for the first time.Strangely enough, I would actually recommend reading this after, rather than before, The Girl You Left Behind, but perhaps I'm biased. Unfortunately, as a stand alone novella I think it might be a bit weak.
