About this audiobook

Lenna is Strength, a manifestation of the Tarot card, and powerful beyond reckoning. But when she’s pulled into the human realm and tasked with protecting a young boy, everything is thrown into chaos. Lenna’s not supposed to be here, interacting with mortals. She’s definitely not supposed to be drawn to the sexy mercenary sent to retrieve her by any means necessary . . .

As a Hunter for magical beings, Caine’s duty is simple: return this compelling, impossibly attractive woman and secure the long lost Tarot deck that made travel between worlds possible. Instead he’s drawn into Lenna’s dangerous rescue mission and blindsided by his growing feelings. But there is more than one enemy to contend with. And as the clock runs out, failure means not just the loss of an innocent life and the woman Caine has come to love, but the destruction of Lenna’s entire world.

I enjoyed the book. Good story line. Happy endings are the best.

Loved all the “outer realms” this story offered. Loved it

I enjoyed the book. As I have listened to these books, I have come to realize how important the narrator is. I very much liked this narrator.

The book was interesting and I did enjoy it. The reason for the 3 Star rating is that it is a bit convoluted and loose ends left hanging.

I didn't expect to enjoy this so much. I'm more into suspense than fantasy but do like Linda Howard's writing. Takes some time to get into it, but worth hanging in there. The storyline seemed a bit rushed at the end, though.

Read the book. Very entertaining. Loved the little boy, but had greater expectations for him to become the next Hunter...so very disappointed that he turned out to be a Las Vegas Magician instead,,,albeit a successful one at that! Make believe (or maybe not?) story of teleporting and the great Tarot Characters ruling the world or worlds.

Frost Line begins with the death of Elijah's mother at the hand of State Senator Robert Markham. Elijah runs to a neighbor's house and hides in a closet where he unwittingly stumbles upon a Tarot card deck. When he calls for help, he brings Lenna, who is Strength in the Tarot deck. Lenna is from another plane of existence where each Tarot card is represented by an actual being. Lenna wants to help Elijah, but knows she is only able to stay for five days in this world or see her own destroyed. Hunters come after Lenna including Caine, who is the most well-known and fiercest of the Hunters. When he can't convince Lenna to come back with him, he joins her quest to find the man who killed Elijah's mother and find him somewhere he can be safe.
This story has an interesting premise, but bringing the two worlds together really didn't allow for any of the characters in either world to be well developed. Lenna and Caine are fairly two-dimensional and the world building of their plane of existence leaves many holes and questions that remain unanswered. Overall, this was a quick read, but didn't really satisfy.

Lenna is Strength from the Tarot deck, she lives in a world that is perfect and made for her, when a distressed child draws us into our world it also brings some complications with it, namely that if she stays away for too long her own world will be destroyed. Caine is a hunter and he is tasked with finding her and the deck that drew her from our world. He doesn't expect that he will find her intruguing and that feelings will grow between the two of them.Entertaining but needed a little more work on the worldbuilding.

It has been years since I have read anything by Linda Howard. I like this joint book by she and Linda Jones. I could not stop reading this book. Lenna, Caine, and Elijah were great. Although, It was Elijah that really was the superstar and who stole my heart. What with his innocence and his love of superheroes. I mean who does not want to get the chance to be a superhero. Yet, I can't forget Lenna and Caine. Their chemistry and attraction to one another was hot. Lenna may have been royalty but she had compassion. Caine is the type of guy I would want watching my back. My only complaint is that I do wish that there were more fighting scenes as it was great to see Lenna and Caine in action. Even Elijah got into the action some as well. This book is not frosty but magical and worth your time to check out!

Frost Line by Linda Howard and Linda Jones is a 2016 Avon publication. I was provided a copy of this book by the publisher and Edelweiss in exchange for an honest review. I always enjoy Linda Howard and Linda Jones’ collaborations, but judging by the synopsis and the book cover, I was not sure if this was my kind of book. Paranormal romance is no longer a big draw for me, but I still like to read one from time to time. Although the book is listed as a mystery thriller, it is definitely paranormal, but also has strong sci-fi/fantasy elements, in my opinion, and normally I pass on those genres, but I couldn't take a pass on these authors because I love their other books, so I was determined to approach this story with an open mind. The story got off to a good start, but I confess I got a little lost with the Tarot card symbolism, since I have never seen or touched a deck of Tarot cards. However, I managed to grasp the gist of the situation, and was able to follow the story despite my ignorance on that front.Elijah is a young boy who witnessed his mother’s death at the hands of her politically powerful lover. He is now being hunted and is in desperate need of help. Unwittingly, he summons Leena, the living manifestation of the ‘strength’ card. Rising to the occasion, Leena is determined to see justice done for Elijah’s mother and protect the child from the danger he is in. However, a ‘Hunter’ named Caine, is out to see Leena sent back to where she came from. But, Leena stands her ground, refusing to leave until her mission is complete. Thus begins an unlikely partnership between Leena and Caine, one that develops into something much more. But, what will happen once their mission is complete? This is quite an imaginative story, and I enjoyed getting to know Elijah and loved how Caine and Leena put aside their personal agendas to protect him. There are sub-plots going on too, with Leena dealing with some fierce competitions and another person lurking in the shadows looking for Elijah.“His own childhood hadn’t been all that great. He’d seen kids who lived worse lives than he had, but seeing other people miserable didn’t help your own misery; it just gave you company. He could have done with less company.”Although I had a hard time getting into the tarot card manifestation part of the plot, I enjoyed the book and really liked the way everything turned out in the end. This was a nice change of pace for me and I’m happy I decided to give the book a try.
