- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Love Diana Gabaldon. Love Lord John. Love the ending. Also love the little yellow snake subduing the fearsome ham.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Interesting concept, but not well executed. The books in the Lord John series have beeneither a hit or miss....and this one is a miss. The story feels half finished. I found myself flipping through some of the pages to jump to the dialogue because the descriptive text was to lengthy. The dialogue between characters is good, and the character development is fairly decent as well.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/52.5 stars rounded up. This one wasn't as much my thing. It seemed like all the attention was given to the tropical location and the zombies with hardly any given to character development or even history.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5This has to be my favorite Lord John Grey story. This was one I'd love to have seen been longer!!
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I very much enjoyed this book. I learned a little about the origins of zombies, and Lord John Grey's story was engaging.

- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Where I got the book: purchased on Kindle. This is not really a novel, more a novella or longish short story. A rather lightweight story, too, with Lord John Grey in Jamaica getting mixed up with zombies. The best thing about it is Gabaldon's explanation of how zombiedom can be achieved without actually raising the dead; I also appreciated seeing Geillis Duncan aka Mrs. Abernathy, and would have liked more of her.One for the fans, definitely, but not the best one.
