About this audiobook
Years before, a gateway opened between their world and ours. Sending one young woman through may be the key to survival for the kingdom of Fourline.
Strapped for cash, college student Natalie Barns agrees to take a job at a costume shop. Sure, Estos—her classmate who works in the shop—is a little odd, but Nat needs the money for her tuition.
Then she stumbles through the mysterious door behind the shop—and her entire universe transforms.
Discovering there’s far more to Estos than she ever imagined, Nat gets swept up in an adventure to save his homeland, an incredible world filled with decaying magic, deadly creatures, and a noble resistance of exiled warriors battling dark forces. As she struggles with her role in an epic conflict and wrestles with her growing affection for a young rebel, Soris, Nat quickly learns that nothing may go as planned…and her biggest challenge may be surviving long enough to make it home.

- Rating: 1 out of 5 stars1/5I couldn't get past the first chapter. It didn't make enough sense for me to want to try to go further.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5This is a book I would have loved as a teenager. Young College kid, finds a group of people who needs her to do something dangerous, while discovering who she is, all at the same time.butas an adult, it was fairly simplistic, following any number of standard plots about young woman turns into saviour of an unrelated group of people. This isn't a bad plot, just very over done. However, the author managed to go around some of the obvious tropes. Main character Natalie, was chosen because she was fit, seemed trustworthy, and really needed the money. Not because of any special sign or omen. She also reacted correctly when she realized what was being asked of her. So, the book stayed away from obvious tropes....but by the end, the lead character was very quickly turning into "Young Woman is only saviour for prosecuted group" trope. I was very disappointed, even though all signs were pointing that way.The book itself is an easy read. It was well written, and an easy read. The biggest problem is it was so predictable.
