About this audiobook

Championship bull rider Nick Wilde is the face of Montana Pro Rodeo, with all the acclaim and fans he can handle. But is that enough? Contemplating his next career move, he’s come home to his family’s cherry orchard—and to his childhood crush, helicopter pilot Harper Stone. But Harper’s not quite the sexy, badass girl he once lusted after. Recently widowed, she’s broken in two. Wanting to help her move on, Nick finds himself aching for the kind of stability he never had as a child.

True love comes once if you’re lucky, and Harper already had her shot. An accident took her husband eighteen months ago and left only pain and guilt in his place. Now Nick is waking up her body and heart to everything she might still have to gain—or lose. A second chance is more than she thinks she deserves. But with a man like Nick doing the persuading, maybe it’s time to try.

Montana Rescue by Kim LawThe Wildes of Birch Bay #2. Contemporary romance. Can be read as a stand-alone. Nick Wilde returns home to the family cherry orchard to reassess his life goals. He is a championship bull rider but is feeling he’s missing something. Nick gets a ride home from Harper in her helicopter. Nick has had a crush on her since he was young and hopes to rekindle something. Harper resists Nick. She’s been a widow for only eighteen months and isn’t ready to reengage with life yet. Yet Nick is irresistible for Harper. Heartbreaking and heartwarming as the two circle each other and assess. There is a lot of backstory told for Harper which is sad but needed for why she’s hesitant. Other family children bring a lighthearted tone to the story. 3.5

    What a journey!

I loved the characters. Both Nick and Harlow are a bit broken due to things that have happened in their past. But they both have good hearts. The story deals with their growing romance but also their journey to healing and growth so they can contribute to a healthy relationship.

This was a sweet book. Nick and Harper have known each other for years. Harper is still dealing with the loss of her husband. Nick is still dealing with the issues of his childhood and his mother. Neither is expecting anything long term but that changes over time.

This book is part of a series but you don’t need to read them in order. I’m one of those people who likes to read the books in order.

What an emotional read! This is book 2 of The Wilde's of Birch Bay. Let me get this out of the way first. It can easily be read as a stand alone. Ms. Law does a good job weaving the back story in so you aren't lost but also in a way that isn't boring for those that read Book 1. Nick Wilde is a Montana Pro championship bull rider that hasn't made the step up to the national series even though he's being urged to. He doesn't know why he's holding back but he is.

Harper was the object of Nick's crush growing up. Life has not been nice to her. She is a grieving widow trying to find her way. She is a tough, strong willed helicopter pilot that used to love search & rescue & she rocks blue hair! At the start of the book, she comes across as a very closed off, cold, selfish woman. As you get into the story & she begins to open up to Nick, you understand what has made her this way.

I have not read a book that invoked this much emotion from me since my last Nora Roberts or Danielle Steele novel! I laughed, smirked, got upset & cried throughout this one! I feel like I've been through an emotional wringer. Ms. Law has a way of pulling you deep into the story & keeping you there throughout the entire book. Her characters are so realistic & three dimensional that you feel like they could be your neighbors or family. I was so emotional invested in the story I couldn't put it down!! Totally loved this story & would recommend it to everyone.

I received a free, advance copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest, unbiased opinion.
