About this audiobook

Baseball star Will Vandergriff knows any number of women who would happily pretend to be his girlfriend. In a last-ditch effort to restore his good standing with his team’s higher-ups, he enlists the help of his neurotic, goody-goody neighbor. Schoolteacher Olivia Pratt might be a bit quirky and a bit of a loner, but she’s a lot more inviting than she knows. Will hopes that bringing her to his next game might revamp his reckless reputation and help get his career back on track. The only problem? The plan works a little too well. Not only do the higher-ups love Olivia, but Will plays his best game yet. Suddenly his losing streak is a thing of the past, and Olivia is his new good-luck charm. Will feels anything but lucky.

After years of keeping the world at bay, Olivia Pratt is pulling off the ultimate performance—not only reluctantly posing as Will’s girlfriend but also insisting that she’s oblivious to his major-league appeal. But she can only lie to herself for so long. Being by Will’s side feels good. Really good. Maybe it’s finally time to make a pitch for everything she really wants—and to find out just how exhilarating love can be.

Fun romance between a professional baseball player and a teacher. Will is having trouble with his game and after meeting Olivia he decides that she is his good luck charm and is just what he needs to clean up his reputation. Olivia has a love/hate relationship with baseball, a large fluffy white cat she walks on a leash, and a secret crush on Will that sneaked up on her without her even realizing it. I loved watching the connection between these two characters grow. Their banter was humorous and fun. It was a perfect read to escape with.

Are you a baseball fan? Or do you just like to sink into a fun and funny contemporary romance? Well, either way you are in luck! Amy Matayo’s newest rom-com, The Thirteenth Chance definitely hits a home run. With two endearing main characters, some sassy dialog and sparks aplenty (not to mention an adorable cat) this novel was a fun, fun read. Now I am not much for sports, but this book had me ready to head to the stadium for some major league action. Amy did a good job of making the baseball world come to life. Or maybe it was just the chemistry between Will and Olivia that kept the pages flying. Quirky Olivia won my heart and cocky and infuriating Will was too cute to be mad at for long. The Thirteenth Chance can be categorized as a clean read, though there was a bit of mild language. All in all, Matayo’s novel should be a big hit with fans of this genre.Recommended to fans of romantic comedy.Audience: adults.(Thanks to the publisher for a review copy.
