About this audiobook

Michael Flint is the heir hunter of last resort. A forensic genealogist and former clandestine agent specializing in high-end private investigations, he promises clients he can find anyone, anytime, anywhere-dead or alive. Laura Oakwood stands to lose more than $50 million in mineral royalties if she's not found within seventy-two hours. But she presents an extra challenge: she's been running from the law due to her involvement in a deadly armed robbery twenty-eight years ago.

Texas oil baron Sebastian Shaw desperately needs Laura's signature to take over her family's oil fields. And Shaw's bitter rival, Felix Crane, will do anything to keep that from happening. In a hunt stretching from dusty, hot West Texas to snowy Saskatchewan, Flint finds himself caught in the cross fire between dueling tycoons and avaricious mercenaries out for their own piece of the pie.

On Flint's side? A knack for keeping himself alive, a hard-won moral code, and buried questions about his own family that drive everything he does. As Flint tracks Laura, he delves into his own murky history, whose secrets he is only now beginning to uncover.

The publisher's blurb sounds exciting but I found the writing style too overblown and breathless and I could not finish. As early as page two I marked one of the phrases "too stupid, really I should quit." I carried on a bit farther and nothing improved.I received a review copy of "Blood Trails" by Diane Capri (Thomas & Mercer) through NetGalley.com.

Title: Blood Trails (Heir Hunter Series #1)Author:Diane CapriPages:330Year: 2016Publisher: Thomas & MercerMy rating is 5 stars.I am always on the hunt for a good story, one that can stand on solid ground without other ingredients such as sexual content or tons of foul language. Here is a new author to me with a brand new series starring the character of Michael Flint. Michael’s job is to locate those who are due an inheritance. The catch is that he has to find them first. Michael has to have them sign a document before time expires or the person who is supposed to inherit doesn’t.What brought the thrill for me in reading this book was the many twists and turns in the plot. With blood-pumping action, adventure and many times danger, Michael searches for a woman who doesn’t want to be found because of her past. Michael is a mysterious man who works in the shadows and sometimes plain sight with someone always wanting his demise or failure to accomplish his mission. It was great to sit back for hours and read such well-crafted characters and plot. Diane kept me guessing and wondering if the ending would ever come to the case Michael was working. Even at the end of the book, threads were left hanging, so I can’t wait to see what comes out of Diane’s imagination in the future for Michael. If you’re looking for a good tale that is filled with suspense, solid plot, and good vs. evil or wanting to root for the good guy to win, look no further. Diane has other series she writes, and I plan on exploring those books or novellas soon. Blood Trails is a captivating,“what’s next” kind of tale that will excite fans of her books and leave them drooling for more! Better read this one as soon as possible before we see what she has in store for Michael’s next dangerous adventure!Disclosure of Material Connection: I received one or more of the products or services mentioned above for free in the hope that I would mention it on my blog.
