About this audiobook

Erika: His name is Michael Crist. My boyfriend's older brother is like that scary movie that you peek through your hand to watch. He's handsome, strong, and completely terrifying. The star of his college's basketball team and now gone pro, he's more concerned with the dirt on his shoe than me.

Michael: Her name is Erika Fane, but everyone calls her Rika. My brother's girlfriend grew up hanging around my house and is always at our dinner table. She looks down when I enter a room and stills when I am close. I can always feel the fear rolling off of her, and while I haven't had her body, I know that I have her mind. That's all I really want, anyway.
Until my brother leaves for the military, and I find Rika alone at college. In my city. Unprotected. The opportunity is too good to be true. Because you see, three years ago she put a few of my high school friends in prison, and now they're out. We've waited. We've been patient. And now every last one of her nightmares will
come true.Contains mature themes.

This book, Erica is not a loveable lead, Michael is abusive, this was abuse, mental and physical and made this book a terrible read. I don't have any trauma in my life but anyone who has been in a relationship with a manipulative and or abusive partner might find this difficult and triggering. Also the narrator sometimes sounded so whiney I was ready to give up. The only thing that kept me going was the little mystery story it had in it.

This gives such a horrible message! Let guys verbally, emotionally and physically abuse you over and over and keep going back for more. I can’t believe this is YA! So disappointing!

This book was a bit of a long story but worth the read! There’s flash backs between past and present. The sex is steamy! I’m going to check out the authors other books.

I made it to chapter 25, and it was a little hard to follow. This isn't a bad book but not one for me. The dark / smut was not the issue for me.

It was a solid read. Drama filled and entertaining to follow.

Ricka has her future planned out for herself: she will marry Trevor, get access to her inheritance and become the perfect wife in the small community. One problem: Trevor isn't the brother she wants. She's always had eyes for the older sibling, Michael. Yet, he doesn't seem to notice her anymore, she's a nuisance to him. Though one night, a couple of years ago, he did notice her.

Michael is the star basketball player, the only one from his group of friends that managed to keep his life intact. They served time in prison, he had his own, tailor made for of tourture: being around Ricka. She's supposed to become his brother's wife, he's supposed to hate her for sending his friends to prison. Ricka thinks Michael doesn't notice her, doesn't see the want and need in her eyes. Though, it's her who doesn't see clearly.

I had a distinct feeling it was more drama than dark romance, but I loved all the twists and turns. Ricka is fighting for herself here, moulding her hidden personality to become a woman on her own. Michael pushes her to it, but fails let himself grow as well, to a point. The revelation of the true villain and the reason for Damon's wickedness came as a surprise for me. The resolution at the end was unexpected, but it made sense. The epilogue was a little out of the blue and sounded like an origin story for a group of superheroes at times.

2.75 stars. After hearing all of the hype and seeing this book rec'd so many times, I had high expectations for this book. It did not meet them. This was just okay for me. While there were parts that had me sitting up straight and hanging on to the narrators' every word, I did not love this story as I had hoped. The plot was intriguing, but I didn't care enough about the characters to be fully invested. The story was unhinged, which I love, but it was definitely too long. Without being invested in the characters, I really didn't care what happened to them. The epilogue was completely unnecessary. The spice and sexual tension between the MCs were great. While this was a disappointment, I will probably try another book by the author.

It's a good read but I found myself reaching for other books in between chapters as it drawled sometimes. Don't get me wrong, there's definitely spice but I felt like it didn't hold my interest as much.

FINALLY!!! A book that doesn't make the sex scenes more important than the plot! I've DNF'd so many books lately becauseof that, but this one was actually really good. Not too, too much spice (lol), good characters, even a little plot twist that I wasn't expecting. I can't wait to read the next book

Started out slow and a bit confusing. I'm glad I stuck with it though. Didn't follow the typical romance novel layout and the twists and turns were well done. Glad the emotional depth development wasn't rushed. Overall, would recommend.

Best things about this book: the cover and the playlist. The characters were not likable in the least, the romance had no substance, the smut poorly written, the narrators overly dramatic.

Loved it just loved it, it was long but I liked that because it gave the author the chance to put as much detail in the book and it was just great, I read some of the reviews and they said it was boring and too long but I totally disagree with them it was not boring it had me on the edge of my seat most of the time and I just love that. I love Michael I love Rika and I also love the turn of events that happened it was just really cool!!

So, I came across this book, checked some YouTube videos on the review and it honestly disappointed me!!!! I thought it was amazing, freaky...psychopath falls for innocent girl... but it’s so boring, the story just goes on and on, very childish and only at the end the main characters have sex or do something about their attraction towards eachother... basically the whole story is a waste! I don’t get the hype about this first book ??‍♀️

?Possible spoiler review? One scene got to me the most and I think we all know what it was… chapters are so long and feel like filler was placed just to make it 30 chapters long.. I do have a problem with the amount of minor aged people being involved in steamy scenarios. You could’ve easily made Erika 18 years old and Michael 2 years older and it would’ve worked the same. It made me feel gross listening half the time. Michael’s VA is good but Erika’s was too nasally for my liking. This is definitely a boundary pushing age gap romance. I don’t quite enjoy how violent they were to her and then she just up and forgives all of them basically. Also that one scene is very confusing for both main characters as possessive and territorial they are of one another. For me there’s more cons than pros. I do enjoy Kai’s character however and might give his book a chance.

DNF. I couldn’t get past the narrator’s voice. It was too distracting.
