      Such a cute little town. Makes me “wish” I lived there! These books are nicely paced and there isn’t a ton of information thrown at you so it’s a quick, easy read. Little cliffhangers throughout keep you coming back for more.

      Darcy is a "Wishcrafter" (a witch that is able to grant other peoples' wishes that are pure of heart) she runs the service "As You Wish" a concierge service that doubles as an investigation service. As a wishcrafter, she is unable to be photographed and her image always appears as a burst of white light, until a spell is cast upon her...Two years running Natasha's cat Tatiana has won the competition, with the other two top competitors each having an accident and being forced to withdraw their animals from the competition.Darcy is hired by Ivy (the owner of Fairy Tails, pet groomer) to keep an eye out for trouble at the upcoming pet show and especially on Natasha, just in case she is the cause of the trouble.At the competition are Baz & his wife Vivienne who are having marital problems. Baz is a notorious womanizer and Vivienne has hired Glinda to get proof that Baz is having an affair... With proof of an affair Vivienne can divorce Baz with a $10,000,000 settlement, without proof her divorce is only worth $1,000,000.While on a "snooping" break, both Darcy & Glinda find Baz & Natasha sneaking out of the storeroom after having a quickie. Still in the throes of passion Darcy & Glinda are able to film the couple having a parting kiss and grab, getting the evidence they need to aide in Vivienne's divorce. During the judging Natasha dies of Cyanide poisoning and suspicion falls on Vivienne. As Darcy investigates whom might have had reason to murder Natasha, she goes to visit Chip, one of Natasha's on/off boyfriends. As Darcy is questioning Chip, he drinks is usual kale smoothie and he begins to turn red and pass out. He too a victim of Cyanide poisoning. Hiding in Chip's bedroom is Baz, who escapes through the window.Baz is arrested for the murder of Chip, and after his release is run down by Vivienne's car, but the evidence points out that Vivienne was not driving and she too is being framed. In the meantime, someone is pet-napping the animals that were in the competition, they try to take Archie (a macaw & Darcy's sometime helper) but he escapes.There are no lack of suspects or "Red Herrings"... Most everyone disliked Natasha and as Baz had more than one girlfriend any one of them could have wanted to frame him or Vivienne.I skipped over most of the characters' history that is repeated from book to book as I find it unnecessary and boring reading. Aside from that, the book was easy to read and had an interesting plot.

      Eh. Not the best of the bunch, but not bad either. Lots of ongoing secrets are finally revealed: the biggie, the one that was probably meant to elicit the biggest shock (who is the Elder) was bleeding obvious to me, but the author still wrote it with enough sincerity that it could cause a few misty eyes. The murder mystery plotting was not bad. Not shocking but not hopelessly obvious. What was most disappointing was the amateur copy-editing. Lots of missing words, making it obvious that edits weren't checked after they were made. Poor performance from Obsidian/Penguin, but certainly not the first time. Still an entertaining, fantastical, mystery series when you're looking for something both light and oftentimes deep.

      It's hard to believe that it's almost been a year since Darcy Merriweather and her sister Harper arrived in the Enchanted Village to live with their Aunt Ve and slowly come to learn more about their Craft. Although Harper prefers to retreat from Wishcrafting, Darcy remains the backbone behind their mother and Aunt Ve's business, As You Wish. Loved the idea of the murder occurring an a pet show--definitely somewhere emotions can run high! An additional storyline about petnapping rounds out the story. It's a nice, light, humorous cozy that still reminds me of tv reruns as a kid. I would spend my tourist dollars in the Enchanted Village any day!

      Gone with the Witch by Heather Blake is the sixth book in A Wishcraft Mystery series. The Enchanted Village is getting ready for The Pawsitively Enchanted Pet Extravaganza. The organizer (and creator) of the event, Ivy Teasdale has hired Darcy Merriweather (through her business As You Wish) to keep an eye on the event. The last couple of years there have been some incidents and Ivy does not want anything to happen this year. Darcy is to especially keep an eye on Natasha Norcliffe. Natasha with her cat, Titania likes to win. So that Darcy can snoop around, she has been entered into the competition with her dog, Missy in the Easy on the Eyes category. During Missy’s judging, Natasha collapses and dies (there goes her prime suspect). Ivy is not happy with Darcy’s work and fires her (do you think this will stop Darcy). Ivy ends up changing her mind and rehires Darcy to find out what happened to Natasha. Unfortunately, this leads Darcy to another victim. Chip Goldman, Natasha’s friend (and sometimes boyfriend) is dead in his apartment. Are the two murders connected? Then pets from the extravaganza start disappearing. Someone is stealing them (can you believe that someone tried to steal Archie). What is going on? Darcy is determined to get to the bottom of it. Darcy is also dealing with fixing up of her new building (for her to live in and for As You Wish), her relationship with Nick (if she is ready for more), and trying to figure out the identity of the Elder. Life is never dull in the Enchanted Village. Gone with the Witch was a delight! I have enjoyed reading this series since the very first book. It is like visiting old friends each time I read addition to this series. I like Heather Blake’s unique take on witchcraft. While Gone with the Witch can be read alone (the author does a great job of explaining things), you really should read the whole series (You can see Darcy’s journey from the very beginning). Gone with the Witch is well-written and easy to read. I was drawn right into the story from the very first page. The book contains interesting and quirky characters that you want to get to know (I wish they were real). The Enchanted Village is a unique town that everyone (at least me) would like to live in (or at least visit often). Gone with the Witch has two mysteries, great characters, great setting, romance, and humor. All these elements (plus more) make an enjoyable novel. I give Gone with the Witch 5 out of 5 stars (which you know is very rare for me). I am eagerly anticipating the next book in A Wishcraft Mystery series (which will be out in October). I received a complimentary copy of Gone with the Witch from the author through the Cozy Mystery Review Crew in exchange for an honest evaluation of the novel.

      Darcy Merriweather enters her dog Missy in the Enchanted Village’s Positively Enchanted Pet Contest - not because she expects Missy to win but because Ivy, the show organizer, hired her to keep an eye on things as she suspects one contestant is trying to sabotage the event. Darcy quickly finds out that isn't true, however, when the person Ivy suspects is murdered. As if that wasn't enough, pets are disappearing -seemingly being petnapped. Darcy has her hands filled trying to solve the murder and petnappings, but her investigation may put her, and those close to her, in real danger.Quite some time ago I read and enjoyed the first book in Heather Blake’s Wishcraft mystery series but for some reason I never read any of the other books in the series. “Gone With the Witch” showed me what a mistake that is - I am going to buy the other books in the series to get fully up to date on Darcy and her friends. Blake has created a delightful world in which some people are Crafters (they can cast spells depending on their talents), half crafters (mortals married to witches but have no powers), and mortals (who have no idea that some people have magic powers). Blake does a wonderful job with this and I love the fact that she sets the series in Salem, Massachusetts! Since I haven’t read all of the books in the series, I was surprised by a few things in the book regarding other characters that may or may not surprise other readers - particularly The Elder, which I thought was well done. As for the mysteries in the book - the murder and missing pets - the solution to both caught me off-guard and in the case of the missing pets made me a bit sad. Blake truly has created a complex world filled with very real characters - even those who have magical powers.“Gone With the Witch” is an enchanting mystery.
