About this audiobook

Olivia Townsend is in trouble and out of options. Pursued by a dangerous man in search of a lost treasure she doesn't possess, she's got only two things in her favor: her late husband's diary-which she was never meant to see-and the man who was her first and only love. Losing him broke her heart, though she's been careful to hide it for the last ten years. But when he comes to her aid and vows to stand by her, no matter what, she can't help but hope that things will be different for them this time.

James Weston has blamed himself for letting Olivia down when she needed him years ago, and now he'll do whatever it takes to keep her safe and to win her trust again. He's confident that he can outwit the villain chasing Olivia. But being so near her again threatens to expose every secret in his heart . . . even those that he swore would stay hidden forever.Contains mature themes.

I liked quite a bit about this. There is a mystery and adventure, but it didn't feel heavy on drama. The characters were reasonable people, I believed their feelings for each other. There's a bit of a road trip which I like, and the characters from the previous books had some involvement, but the story didn't revolve around them. It was just enjoyable to read.

Sweet and an adventure, but no real tension between the main characters.

Caroline Linden concludes her Scandalous (50 Ways to Sin) series with Six Degrees of Scandal. It is the story of lost love and second chances. James Weston and Olivia Herbert Townsend grew up together, fell in love, but were separated by her parents' greed and his tardiness to realize the direr situation. But now ten years later Olivia is a widow and in deep trouble. Unbeknownst to Olivia her dead husband was involved in some shady dealings and has left her with very little. So when a certain peer starts threatening her, she, with James's help, starts investigating her husband's business affairs. Can James make up for all those years ago when he let her down? Can he gain her trust again? Can they find their way back to each other? Will they free Olivia from her pursuer? This historical romance is filled with danger and intrigue and passion and, of course, a happy ever after. I like how Linden involved their friends and family (for their love stories check out the other books in the series) to support Olivia and James in their quest to free Olivia from her past and to find each other again. I like that I got to find out the whole story behind the steamy pamphlet (50 Ways to Sin) Olivia and her friends have been reading. It was a fitting ending to the series that includes four novels and two novellas.
