- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Good sense of place (as least from a two-time visitor's stand point, it evoked Seattle for me). But I found it a bit hard to follow. There were too many sentences without subjects! I do like that there's some stuff about running a retail business--I liked Pepper's search for a new employee.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Guilty as Cinnamon continues the story of Pepper, the sassy owner of The Seattle Spice Shop. This time Pepper's working on signs for her shop, is having employee problems with a new hire. She also may have a potential new commercial account that she's excited about. That is until she comes across the owner/chef - dead.
I love how Ms. Budewitz mixes Seattle, spices, food & wine into the story. This story surprised me a bit which I enjoy. I also like how there are so many strong women in these stories and while Pepper has romantic ties with a few mentioned she's. Not dependent on them - such a refreshing change! Will be eagerly awaiting the next book in the series.
