- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5(Chesapeake Diaries #4) Brooke was the typical pretty and popular small town girl and married the man of her dreams who later was killed in Iraq with a small son Logan. She does not want to fall in love and sets her sights on opening a cupcake bakery. I thought she was very boring and not very interesting in the book. However, the hot sexy Jesse, a new attorney in town escaping the reputation of his irresponsible father moves to St Dennis to take over his grandfather’s law practice and prove himself worthy. Of course he falls in love with Brooke and the typical story. I would like to have seen more fireworks from Brooke as she definitely did not match the heat from Jesse. Of course, Grace as usual was great and the other BFF (girls in town who are planning their weddings). Everyone falls in love with someone in town and all the girls own a store of some sort. No a lot of plot here.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5When Brooke Madison was a young woman she had the perfect life: she won all the beauty contests, she was popular, beautiful and extremely mean. Today, Brooke Madison is a widow, returning to St. Dennis with a few dreams and a lot of sorrow and regrets in her heart and a son, Logan.Fortunately for her, Brooke mended things with Dallas MacGregor and the two of them became best friends as her two kids. Deciding to make a life of her own baking cupcakes, Brooke starts to sell her cakes to promote them and while establishing her life, she hires Jesse Enright, the new lawyer in town.Jesse feels that he needs to prove himself to the town and his granddad, to prove that he belongs to St. Dennis and Brooke is a big incentive to try and to make roots for himself with her.Again, another great story by the hand of Mariah Stewart. The simplicity and the ensemble that she had created in St. Dennis makes this story and the characters something that will stay with you for a long time. It's impossible not to like it.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Brooke is a widowed single mother, living with her brother at the family farm, studying accountancy, and plotting to open a business making cupcakes. She has neither the time nor the inclination to look for a new man. Jesse is the new attorney in town, having recently joined the family law firm and still living down his father's awful reputation. Knowing that he'll scare her off if he shows any romantic interest, he resolves to take it slowly and just be a friend. Plot ensues.A sweet romance.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Summers over. Officially. It saddens me. It truly does. But with the end of summer, comes some great new books, one of which is Mariah Stewart's latest release, #4 in her Chesapeake Diaries series, Hometown Girl. After reading the first 3, I knew I couldn't wait to get my hands on this one. With this one, Mariah brings all her great Chesapeake characters along with the cozy feel of Fall and Halloween. Brooke Bowers, former St.Denis prom queen,is back home after the death of her husband, who was killed in Iraq. She and her son Logan are living with her mother and brother. She's vowed that she only has one soul mate and he died in Iraq while fighting for his family and country. Determined to make it on her own with her son, she opens her bakery and doesn't date anyone past the first date. Then comes Jesse. Jesse moves back to St. Denis to accept a position in his family's law firm. He's out to prove his worth and that he's nothing like his father. He certainly can't deny the attraction he feels for hometown girl Brooke, yet she won't allow herself to love him, or any one else, again. But, Jessie has grown to love her son Logan, and her. Will he be able to prove to his family, and the hometown girl, that he's not his father and he is worthy? I'll stop there with that little teaser. I will tell you this: it's a one day read! It's THAT good! I love the way Mariah makes her readers the heart of the story. She grips you and sends you straight to the center of St. Denis, and each character becomes a part of you, becomes your family. When you close the cover of this GREATASTICALLY FANTABULOUS( I have fun creating fun words for awesome books!)5 Book worthy novel, you'll reflect on life, you'll reflect on the wonderful characters, and more importantly, you'll reflect and try to guess when the next installment of this phenomenal series will release! Hmmmm...I think a Christmas one would be absolutely PERFECT! Well done, Mariah!
