About this audiobook

Rita and Rosie Stevens are only nine and five years old when their widowed mother marries a violent bully called Jimmy Randall and has a baby boy by him. Under pressure from her new husband, she is persuaded to send the girls to an orphanage, not knowing that the papers she has signed will entitle them to do what they like with the children. And it is not long before the powers that be decide to send a consignment of orphans to their sister institution in Australia. Among them-without their family's consent or knowledge-are Rita and Rosie, the throwaway children.

The throwaway children by Diney Costleloe
(Scribd autobook) this book follows the plight sisters whose mother in England was tricked into signing over custodial rights to Them by a social worker and sent to an orphange nearby. Them without even notifying their family they were sent on to an orphanage in Australia. There the sisters were separated. The youngest Rosie put in with a brutal adoptive family and Rita remained on the farm that served as their orphanage. Their story is sometimes very heartbreaking and the sisters represent the lives of orphans who were in actual fact taken from their home countries and shipped on to other countries for supposedly a New start but for many years of abuse abd basically slave labor. Very horrible situation and one seldom recognized in our history. Well written. Would recommend to anyone wanting to read a good story.

sad book but really enjoyable. At first I wasn't going to read it because of the way the children were thrown away, basically, but so glad I read it. Looking forward to more Dinner Costeloe books.
