In the days they spend at sea, the four young women become firm friends and vow to stay in touch no matter what their new lives bring.

Life in a new country comes with many challenges, but Betty, Madeline, Alice, and June didn’t move half way across the world to give up without a fight. As their love is tested, the one thing they can count on is the friendship they forged while crossing the Atlantic.

Loved this book!! I was a World War II baby. Had not read or thought about the English brides and how their lives would have been changed by following their American soldier husbands back to their homes.

Despite some of the brash one-star reviews, I absolutely loved this book. I am certainly not one for romances (spare me the sappy details, 50 shades of grey is the color of the sky where I live) and even though this book had romantic undertones, the tragedies that all of the women encountered made it much more interesting that just sappy romances. Life is definitely NOT full of the dramatic romance Hollywood tries to feed us, it is also filled with heartache and trauma. I just want to say that the story was not unbelievable and the characters were not immature. I think the tragedies made the story more believable. Some of us readers out here do appreciate a believable story filled with all the traumas and victories that real life offers.
