About this audiobook
"Some churches now advertise courses on how to pray. How ridiculous! That is like giving a course on how to fall in love." -A. W. TozerTozer understood prayer as few do: as a way of life. Now readers can share that same grand vision.Prayer combines the best of Tozer on prayer into one volume. Tozer was captured by the great wonder of God, and he regarded prayer as the primary means of coming into His presence. But if our everyday life is filled with the barrenness of busyness and there is no serious urgency to pray, we forfeit the wonder of being conformed to the image of Christ and knowing our God more intimately-the true Christian life.Prayer is doable. God is accessible. And Tozer provides the wisdom and encouragement to help us encounter Him daily. With commentary and reflection questions provided by compiler W.L. Seaver, Prayer takes our understanding of prayer to new depths and helps us have a life that prays.

“Prayer is never an acceptable substitute for obedience.”
“Our conditions can hinder God’s answers. Helplessness united with faith produces prayer.”
“The heart seldom gets hot while the mouth is open.” Psalm 39:2-3
“The human heart by nature is filled with unbelief. Unbelief, not disobedience was the first sin. While disobedience was the first recorded sin, behind the act of disobedience was unbelief.”
“Faith is only genuine as it eventuates into prayer.”
“Faith grows with use. If we would have great faith we must begin to use the little faith we already have.” George Müller
“Prayer changes the man and enables God to change things in answer to man’s prayer.”
“There is an idea abroad that wrestling in prayer is always a good thing, but that is by no means true. Extreme religious exercises may be undergone with no higher motive than to get our own way. The spiritual quality of a prayer is determined not by its intensity, but by its origin. In evaluating prayer we should enquire who is doing the praying, our determined hearts, or the Holy Spirit. If the prayer originates with the Holy Spirit, then the wrestling can be beautiful and wonderful. But if we are the victims of our own overheated desires, our praying can be as carnal as any other act.”
“The doctrine that man has been made in the Image of God is one of the basic doctrines of the Bible and one of the most elevating, enlarging, magnanimous, and glorious doctrines that I know.”
“Once we revolved around God as a planet around its Sun. Then one day the little planet said, “I will be my own sun away with this God, and man fell.”.
“If God and spiritual things bore you, admit it frankly!”
“His new life of power began one day when he entered the presence of God and took a solemn vow to never again to say anything to God in prayer that he did not mean.”
“Practice anticipatory prayer because battles are lost before they are fought… The collapse of the disciples had started the night before, when tired and weary they laid down and slept instead of listening to the voice of their Savior and staying awake to pray. Tiredness, sleepiness, prayerlessness, disappointment, and weakness in the spiritual disciplines undermine our prayer life and especially anticipatory prayer.”
