      WHAT A JOURNEY


      I have to admit, this series kind of got me into werewolves. I love the world created, and the "rules" of the werewolves. The characters are all unique, with very distinct voices: the strongest part of this series is how the mismatch of characters all somehow fit together to create a misfit family. The bonds between everyone are very strong, and easy to see, although sometimes not easy to understand. The writing isn't as sophisticated as Stiefvater's later works, but it's clean and clear and filled with lines that make your heart skip.

      Yeah, things do just kind of "fall into place," and maybe it ends a bit too perfectly, but sometimes all we want is a happy ending. I'm here for it.

      Sam, Grace and Cole must save the wolves, once things warm up enough for Grace and Cole can get a microscope and Sam can make the switch from songwriting to reciting German poetry. It's all sweet and ridiculous and even exciting as I slept in on a Sunday, listening to the last installments.

      The story was good. The lead up to the big climax was well written and kept me interested. The climax was great, I'm a little disappointed about Beck, but I kind of expected too. It's the ending that disappointed me. It was ambiguous and I hate those kinds of endings. Three books we shared with Sam and Grace and they don't get their happy ending?! Maybe it's because secretly I am sap at heart, but I feel that after everything they went through Sam and Grace--even Cole--deserved a happily ever after. Instead we get an open-ended ending. It was kind of cruel. She could have just given us an epilogue with a clear decision on if the cure worked or not and if Sam and Grace were together because of or in spite of it. Oh well, can't have everything; I still enjoyed the series.

      I was really looking forward to reading this book. Shiver was amazing and Linger was one of those books that I felt just went in a complete circle. I had high hopes that Forever would actually move the story forward.While I didn't love Forever as much as Shiver, I did love how Stiefvater handled it. With Grace turning at the end of Linger, I was really worried that she was going to drag out the separation between Grace and Sam. There was separation, but it felt so important to the story because you know how much these two characters love each other and that with every day the possibilities for them to be together become harder. When they finally come together, it's in such a simple and comfortable way. I love that they're aren't constantly gushing over each other or doubting each other just to make it more dramatic. They are a simple love story and I love that.But even with Grace and Sam keeping things simple in the love department, Cole and Isabel bring the drama. They fight, love, despise, lust. And they finally feel like solid characters that are developed enough to share in Grace and Sam's plot.I've read a number of reviews by people who were disappointed in the ending of this trilogy, but for me it was perfect, at least for Grace and Sam. Now Cole and Isabel are a different story. I would have liked one more chapter for them, but it comes back to who's story is it? Grace and Sam's.

      **Possible Spoilers!**"Forever" was a good read. However, I was a bit disappointed in mainly two regards. First of all, some of the scenes felt rushed when I thought they should have been more drawn out (since they were important for the book and the series as a whole). The second thing that disappointed me... was the ending. I won't tell you exactly how it ends, but I will simply say that the author leaves it up to reader to create their own ending. In ways, it makes it feel (for me) that this story wasn't completed. It wasn't told in it's entirety. By not giving us everything (which in some stories is a good thing) the author has left many plots incomplete. This was the biggest disappointment for me. However, I DID enjoy the book and I would recommend it.

      This was a mostly satisfying conclusion to the series. There is an element of racing against time, as things are heating up in town for Sam and the wolves. I found Cole and Isabel to be an nice foil to Sam and Grace, proving that love comes in many forms and it doesn't have to look the same to still be meaningful. The part I wanted was a definitive answer to the mystery of the werewolf disease. But instead Ms. Stiefvater leaves the reader having to do as Grace says at the end - she "trusts him" and the reader must too.

      I really enjoyed this book. I am a fan of the whole series but enjoyed this the most. The plot was good and the characters were sutibly complex for me. I enjoyed the development of the werewolf research and, as with Linger, found myself drawn towards the character of Cole. The ending of the book was tragic but fitted the rest of the story well and I was in tears reading Sams meeting with Beck, and throughout the final scenes. A really great book

      What a disappointment! It's usually the second book in a trilogy I could live without, but this one is the last one. I didn't even really like Sam and Grace in this, and the ending was incredibly stupid. Sad, sad, sad to end with me not liking the characters.

      I had been waiting for the conclusion to this trilogy. It was worth waiting for. I liked the fact that we got to know more about Isabel and Cole. There were times when I screamed out "NO!" and was saddened that I couldn't stop what happened. (Even though most have probably read this, I don't want to let out any spoilers.) And then so joyful at some things and hopeful for others. Ms. Stiefvater has created a great trilogy here. It's romance and really all types of love and relationships at their best...and worst. Lovely stories that keep me quite enthralled. The characters are endearing. The writing is wonderful and keeps you turning the pages. I'm giving this one 4 kisses

      The end to the Shiver trilogy had me staying up later reading waaaay past my bedtime! Just as much of a page-turner as the previous two books, Forever (Wolves of Mercy Falls, #3) continued on the journey of Sam and Grace, with Grace now being the wolf.I was a little disappointed with the ending, I feel like Maggie Stiefvater could have added a little more detail to the aftereffects of the move, but otherwise the story was amazing!! Can't wait to see what series she writes next.

      I'm sad to see this series end. I really loved the characters and it was such a different approach to the idea of werewolves. Also, I liked that it took place in northern Minnesota, since I grew up in Minnesota.

      I know I've been pretty ambivalent towards this series in my reviews so far, but the truth is that it has been decent. Maggie Stiefvater has an amazing way with words and with setting the mood, and even though some parts have been "too YA" for me, on the whole I have to say I've enjoyed the first two books.Still, it was a bit of a chore getting through this one. It felt like there were huge stretches where nothing happened at all, nothing but just Sam and Grace professing their love to each other in the most annoying, cringe-worthy ways.The two main characters also seem to devolve before my very eyes. Sam felt less and less like a real boy and more like some fantasy version of Mr. Sensitive, folding paper cranes and writing lovey dovey songs and shopping for pretty summer dresses and reciting German poetry. I have to say I still prefer Sam to Cole's "tough guy" archetype, but yeesh, come on. It's a good thing this kid spent most of his life as a wolf, because he'd be eaten alive in any high school.Grace also went from being tolerably emo to downright bratty. Her self-righteous argument against her parents would have been a lot more persuasive, except I suspect a lot of high school seniors would actually LOVE to be in her shoes of being given so much freedom and independence. I just never bought her situation, which I felt was made to sound a lot worse than it actually is.As much as I can't stand Cole, he and Isabel pretty much saved the book. The two of them drove the story; if it weren't for them, this would have been 300 pages of Sam and Grace groping at each other.But the worst thing about this book was how it ended. Did Maggie Stiefvater forget to write a conclusion to this series or something? There's something to be said about open endings that let the reader use their imaginations and come up with their own ideas of what happens, and they're great when an author pulls it off right. Unfortunately, it fell completely flat here.

      I just finished the series last night. I have to say that Forever was my favorite book of the 3. I like Shiver. Linger was only OK for me. I loved Forever. I was disappointed with the introduction of Cole and Isabel as more major characters in Linger, but the development of these characters in Forever made me wanting to know more and more about them. I think the author was great at keeping Sam and Grace's relationship complex but so loving throughout the trilogy. I have read in other reviews that if you like the Twilight series that you will like this trilogy. I haven't read the Twilight series yet, but this makes me anxious to do so.

      I really struggled with this book. I had a love/hate relationship with the characters, but in the end I felt a loyalty to them and I wanted to see how things turned out. As usual, the author came up with a unique and well-written tale, but I would have loved just a little bit more at the end. Did Sam and Grace end up together? I didn't really know and that's why this one was well-written, but bitter sweet for me. :)

      Review to come..but it made me sad,this was a heart jerker for me. It had it's moments of funny , witty sarcasm but it was so sweet too. I loved it! I feel like I have parted ways with people I have known, so sad this is the last book. These characters were so welled developed and the plot and narrative were great even though it was told in a four person narrative, I was able to follow it just fine. Stiefvater does an excellent job of describing things so you feel like you are there. Her ability to write in such a way that the reading experience becomes more of a visual one. I was there when it all happened. So, overall the author did her job, she made me feel, see, and hear...she invoked all of the senses. I guess this was the review! Enjoy.

      A fitting finale to what turned out to be a surprisingly original werewolf novel. Stiefvater's poetic language and the creative text (in the hardback, it's a dark red) make the novel that little more engrossing and evocative. The relationship between Sam and Grace is lovely to behold - for the all-too brief periods of time they are together. Cole makes an appealing addition - with his combination of dry wit and extreme seriousness. The story has an almost dreamlike languidity, which may annoy some folks - those that are out for lots of action and excitement, but I felt this was more a novel about emotions and acceptance than about the fact that these people turn into wolves and are being hunted down.

      I enjoyed it, and a part of me finds it hard to let Grace and Sam go.

      This was everything I expected from the final book of the trilogy. I was quite happy with the way everything turned out and think the conclusion was truly fitting. In this book we do get to know a few of the characters a little better and the plot seems to be well paced. I really enjoyed the plot twists, the suspense and surprises. Bravo - an enjoyable, well written read!

      I see so many comments about not liking the ending, and I just want to say that I think it was a GREAT ending to the series! The whole series is about hope and taking chances, and the end leaves you with a strong feeling of hope for both of your characters, but also leaving it to your imagination so you can make what you want with it. One of my favorite series that I've ever read! I recommend it to everyone!

      I enjoyed this semi-conclusion to this series. (SINNER is on my Kindle to read in a while.) This book has been sitting on my stack since 2011. So it would be safe to say that the details of the first two books in this series were quite hazy in my mind. Fortunately, I didn't have any trouble picking up the story again.The book is told in four unique viewpoints: Sam's, Grace's, Isabel's and Cole's. Each one shades the story through their perceptions and together we get a complete picture. When the story begins, Sam is "cured," Grace is spending most of her time as a wolf, Cole is desperately trying to find a "cure," and Isabel is dealing with her feeling for Cole, grief for her brother's death, and her friendship with Grace.Things are getting hard for the wolves as Isabel's father is determined to get the wolves removed from protected status and organize a helicopter hunt to exterminate them. Sam is coming to terms with his relationship with Beck as he learns things that change what he thought he knew. I really liked getting to know Cole better through this story. I also really liked Sam and Grace's romance.Though the ending is somewhat ambiguous, I am going to believe that Sam and Grace live happily ever after.

      I am of two minds about this book. I feel like the series could have ended better and I also feel the book was beautiful. I mean, Ms. Stiefvater writes so beautifully, very poetic, but the ending to a series I have been in love with for years now fell short.

      I still enjoyed the characters in this story, as I always have, but there didn't seem to be any resolution in quite a few situations. I felt that I needed a more solid ending, not so much of what my mind could make up for these characters. I wanted a more solid solution for most of the characters.

      I do have to say the way Ms. Stiefvater went with a few things surprised me, I was sad on a few parts, but I didn't feel the depth of emotion I usually do while reading her work. I do have to commend her for her gumption.

      What to expect when you are expecting?

      Werewolf or Human? Am immense battle that left me speechless. I like the dark character but Cole is what i call as dark, sweet, threatening.

      I was very pleased with the ending to this trilogy! This series was my first to read by Maggie Stiefvater and I am so glad that I read it because it introduced me to her books. I loved Sam and Grace and was happy with how their story together turned out. I also love that the series takes place in my home state, MN. Not a lot of books or movies do so it's always cool to find one that does. I'm looking forward to reading more about Cole and Isabel in Sinner.

      There are werewolves in Mercy Falls. Unlike their fictional counterparts, these werewolves don't transform with the moon or by choice, but instead shift into mindless wolf form when there's a drop in temperature, and shift back to human form come summer. Early in this trilogy, overachiever Grace saved a young werewolf's life and fell in love. Together, they figured out how to cure the temperature-controlling shifting. But it turns out that the cure was only temporary, and even now that Sam's cure is still working, Grace's has worn off, and she is living the dangerous life of a wild animal. Even worse, a planned extermination of the wolf pack is being planned by the humans of Mercy Falls, who have grown scared and angry after one too many "wild animal" attacks. With the help of suicidal rock star Cole and selfish Isabel, can Sam and Grace save themselves, and the rest of the werewolf pack?

      I think there were too many POV characters for this book. Each brought something new to the table and had their own fairly distinct narrative voice, but at the same time, it's a relatively slim plot and time period covered, so telling the tale through four characters feels a little like padding. I still really like Grace and Sam's relationship; it's a great mixture of teenage-first-love and been-through-a-lot-together mature love. I didn't entirely like the ending. For at least twenty years these werewolves have been killing people or turning them into werewolves, sometimes nonconsensually (like Sam and Grace). And given that almost all (if not all) of the werepack was in full beast form, with little chance of having a human mind again, it's not like killing them would have entirely been like killing humans. Frankly, I think this trilogy made a good case for how dangerous the wolves were, but a very bad case for why they should be allowed to roam free.

      This series was amazing! The plot wasn't as thoughtfully planned out as other book's that I have read, but the books were amazing nonetheless. I loved the wolf twist with a bit of romance and suspense added in. The characters were a little complicated at first; especially Cole and Isabel. I mean anyone could tell that Isabel was a sort of rock-hard girl and wants nothing to do with love. She doesn't want to hear about it and doesn't believe in it. But then comes along Cole, a once pop star singer for a famous singer who chooses to become a werewolf all because of his no-good life as a human. Cole believes that if he can get to stay a wolf long enough, he may forget all the hardships he's ever had as a human. And on the other hand, Isabel whose one-hundred percent human, still wants to believe that she is a rock-hard girl and doesn't care about anyone not even Cole. Yet, strangely, she finds herself being pulled towards him. She finds herself falling in love with Cole and can't figure out why he wants to kill himself. Isabel show's skill's as a heroine and does what ever it takes to keep the one true thing she has ever loved alive. The other couple in the story was Sam and Grace. There really isn't much to say about them other then the fact that what they showed each other was indeed true love.Although the author over all did a great job on the trilogy, the last book( which is indeed Forever) should have had a definite ending unlike the cliff hanger that it showed. Through my experience, almost ever trilogy series that I have ever read has this problem. I mean its like a trilogy has a beginning(the first book), a middle(the second book to the series) and an end( the last finishing book to the series). Its as if the author wants the readers to come up with the ending, which really isn't how it works. I liked the series enough to say that others should read it, even though the ending was a cliff hanger.
