About this audiobook
Milly Theale is a young, beautiful, and fabulously wealthy American. When she arrives in London and meets the equally beautiful, but impoverished Kate Croy, they form an intimate friendship. But nothing is as it seems; materialism, romance, self-delusion, and ultimately fatal illness, insidiously contaminate the glamorous social whirl.
Henry James
Henry James (1843–1916) was an American writer, highly regarded as one of the key proponents of literary realism, as well as for his contributions to literary criticism. His writing centres on the clash and overlap between Europe and America, and The Portrait of a Lady is regarded as his most notable work.

- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Juliette Stevenson superbly narrates this striking piece of classic literature. Before listening to this novel I listened to James', A Portrait of A Lady. ( Ms. Stevenson also does a fantastic job narrating that story.). Now finishing this work by James I can fully appreciate and better understand the brilliant way he brings his novels to a close.
