    Shannon came west with his family in a small wagon train. In Texas everyone comes down with a sickness that kills all accept Shannon who is rescued by Kiowa Indians whose chief adopts him. On a cattle rustle raid, his Indian father is killed and Shannon is adopted by Shannon Glenshannon, the rancher, who owns the cattle.The Glenshannmon's son hates and fears Shannon while Heather, his daughter, falls in love with him. Life is good and not too complicated until the Glenshannon dies. Then the son, Hadley, who inherits the ranch and almost everyone in the town make life miserable for Shannon. When Shannon returns from the Civil War as a wealthy war hero, he proceeds to get his revenge with unexpected results for him.The title refers to a local geological formation on the ranch that has special meaning for Shannon and Heather.
