About this audiobook

NOW A NETFLIX ORIGINAL FILM!

When a soldier with a troubled past and a struggling songwriter agree to a marriage of convenience for the military benefits, neither expects much after saying “I do.” Then tragedy strikes, and the line between what’s real and what’s pretend begins to blur in this smart and surprising romance perfect for fans of Nicholas Sparks and Jojo Moyes.

Cassie Salazar and Luke Morrow couldn’t be more different. Sharp-witted Cassie works nights at a bar in Austin, Texas to make ends meet while pursuing her dream of becoming a singer/songwriter. Luke is an Army trainee, about to ship out for duty, who finds comfort in the unswerving discipline of service. But a chance encounter at Cassie’s bar changes the course of both their lives.

Cassie is drowning in medical bills after being diagnosed with diabetes. When she runs into her old friend Frankie, now enlisted in the Army, she proposes a deal: she’ll marry him in exchange for better medical insurance and they can split the increased paycheck that comes with having a “family.” When Frankie declines, his attractive but frustratingly intense friend Luke volunteers to marry Cassie instead. What she doesn’t know is that he has desperate reasons of his own to get married. In this unforgettable love story, Cassie and Luke must set aside their differences to make it look like a real marriage...unless, somewhere along the way, it becomes one...

Read the book after I watched the movie and was pleasantly surprised at the differences…until the end. I needed more closure and resolution. Before I began, I also had to make sure to disregard everything I know about the military and how it works. There are many inaccuracies, but for the sake of the story, I accepted them as fact

i cant give it 5 stars...as much as i like the story itself, though I do find the character Cassie extremely selfish when it comes to Luke after he was hurt, I more so find the woman who is reading Cassie's part very annoying. She sounds like a middle aged country bumpkin from Arkansas instead of the young girl in her 20s she was supposed to be. Getting through the book is almost making me cry when I go through the parts that woman is reading. Please screen your audio book readers. Omg.

The story is great… her voice could not be worse for the part. A better book than audiobook in this case for sure. There is nothing about her voice that matches Cassie as a character.

I can’t wait to watch the movie on Netflix.
A heartwarming story of perseverance and love. Two people come together to make life better not realizing the difficult times ahead. I loved this book. I read how other reviewers did not like the abrupt ending to the story. I think it was necessary for 2 reasons. 1. It could be made into a series. 2. So your imagination can run wild with the possibilities.
