About this audiobook

NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER

“If youre looking for a book to take on holiday this summer, The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo has got all the glitz and glamour to make it a perfect beach read.” —Bustle

From the New York Times bestselling author of Daisy Jones & the Six—an entrancing and “wildly addictive journey of a reclusive Hollywood starlet” (PopSugar) as she reflects on her relentless rise to the top and the risks she took, the loves she lost, and the long-held secrets the public could never imagine.

Aging and reclusive Hollywood movie icon Evelyn Hugo is finally ready to tell the truth about her glamorous and scandalous life. But when she chooses unknown magazine reporter Monique Grant for the job, no one is more astounded than Monique herself. Why her? Why now?

Monique is not exactly on top of the world. Her husband has left her, and her professional life is going nowhere. Regardless of why Evelyn has selected her to write her biography, Monique is determined to use this opportunity to jumpstart her career.

Summoned to Evelyn’s luxurious apartment, Monique listens in fascination as the actress tells her story. From making her way to Los Angeles in the 1950s to her decision to leave show business in the ‘80s, and, of course, the seven husbands along the way, Evelyn unspools a tale of ruthless ambition, unexpected friendship, and a great forbidden love. Monique begins to feel a very real connection to the legendary star, but as Evelyn’s story near its conclusion, it becomes clear that her life intersects with Monique’s own in tragic and irreversible ways.

“Heartbreaking, yet beautiful” (Jamie Blynn, Us Weekly), The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo is “Tinseltown drama at its finest” (Redbook): a mesmerizing journey through the splendor of old Hollywood into the harsh realities of the present day as two women struggle with what it means—and what it costs—to face the truth.

This book was spectacular. The narrator who voiced Evelyn was very flat, but the story was so good that I'm going to still give this 4 stars.

Like all the other’s that gave this book high ratings/reviews, it was very well done… The storyline and plot, the excellent writing and all the different narrators that brought the story to life, I was engrossed! It started a little slow and I wasn’t sure whether it would keep my interest, because of the other reviews I decided to trust it was going to be a marvelous story! It really was! I’m not necessarily into the Hollywood scene but the humanity of the characters was beautifully developed

Not many books give you all the feels, this one did for me. It was as if, this were a real person, probably because it literally could have been reality, is was written that real. If that makes any sense.

I saw several people recommend this book and loved it. I didn’t care for it, I saw it through to the end, just to be sure, but I thought the ending was terrible. Ugh.

Omg this book took my breath away. It was beautifully heart wrenching. I was completely enthralled from the moment I started the audiobook. The narrator was so spectacular, definitely one of my favorites. This novel depicted the tragic part of fame and what it can do to you. Our main character was a woman who fought to achieve success. She wasn’t afraid to live in the grey area, which I found so compelling. Evelyn was such a relatable person, who embraced the choices she made. This book wasn’t just about her rise to success, it was about family and love and the struggles of staying true to oneself. Truly this book will leave you crying and breathless in the best way possible.

This was overhyped and relatively boring, if you’re reading it because it’s so popular, don’t.

This is probably a perfect fit for fans of us weekly or people magazine it is both superficial and juvenile. At moments there appear to be creative and interesting plot points and interesting use of language but they are so completely outweighed by so many cliches and useless details. The daily life of the Monique is boring and superfluous to the real story. It’s a disaster. i do you not like this book. It was not as horrible as I expected from the first dreadful 50 or so pages, but I’m still shocked that so many people love it. I did think this recording was good : good narration and good intonation and emotional reflection of the characters.
