Received this from Early Readers program. Very good book, interesting. Rabbi Schneider is a Messianic Rabbi and he really makes sense in his book on how to fight spiritual warfare.I believe strongly that his message is a scriptural one and is a good lesson for the times in which we live. I think it has helped me personally.

There doesn't seem to be anything new about this little book when compared to other's in this genre. It matches up with the television show it was made to work with, which is very good. This is an easy read with a very positive message.

I waited to review this book until I had gotten my daughter to read it, and we discussed it point by point. She is working on a Masters in Theology at Dallas Theological seminary, and much more qualified than I to comment on the accuracy of it. We both found it to be easy to read and apply, and uses Bible passages correctly to back up the main thoughts.

This book is how to deliver yourself from your personal demons. It helps you see how you are in a war with Evil every day and how you must be vigilent to stay Good. Even though more and more practices are acceptable today it doesn't mean that they are not Evil. I found the book very easy to read and I agreed with most of the guidance offered. I don't understand why a person needs to confess his sins to another person or religious leader to find forgiveness. I feel that confession to God is the answer.

I really like this book. I have read other books on deliverance and I like the illustrations that Rabbi Schneider uses. He makes it simple. I think this is a resource that every believer in Yeshua should read (as a supplement to their Scriptures). Thanks for reminding us that we are in a constant battle and for giving us Yahweh's wisdom that we need to survive in this world to fight spiritual war. Sometimes, we just need a little encouragement to help us fight and this book gives a little boost to help. I look forward to drawing nearer to Him and I will read this again. I also plan on passing copies of this book on to loved ones.

Book Review: Self Deliverance by K. A. SchneiderThis book is all about how to minister deliverance to yourself. I believe in the whole concept of self deliverance and this book was very easy to read, easy to understand, and easy to implement.I agree with his premise that it is quite common to see people go through deliverance from a ministry (from someone else) and find themselves back where they started a few short months later on. It’s true that people need to know how to do their own spiritual warfare. His personal stories were particularly pertinent and helpful at every turn.Included were explanations of what demons are, how they gain access and common areas that need to be taken care of (“closing doors”). He also makes a good case for the whole need of self deliverance itself.I liked the fact that he talked about our authority and that it is based in relationship with the Lord. The author was also very encouraging about staying in the battle and not giving up.One idea that he presented seems controversial to me (apart from the whole concept of self deliverance that some people may find controversial). It is that he thinks demons can read your mind, that is, hear your thoughts. Because he believes this he advocates talking to them (“casting them out”) in your mind, and that we don’t always need to or should talk to them out loud.I would have liked to see some other ideas addressed, particularly, how to know if you need deliverance and also knowing how to distinguish between problems with our flesh vs. the world vs. the demonic. He is not saying that everything is a demonic problem but he gave no way to distinguish between these areas. The actual examples and instructions of basic self deliverance were helpful and easy to put into practice. But because he did not address some of the things I mentioned I would categorize this book as a self deliverance manual for beginners. If you are new to deliverance or new to self deliverance then you probably really need this book or another book like it as this topic is neglected in most churches in America. If you are very familiar with deliverance this book may not have much that is new for you but it may prove helpful as a book to give away.Disclosure of Material Connection: I received this book free from Chosen Publishers as part of their blogging for books program. This book is a quick read with a lot of powerful information. It deals with evil, demonic possession, and how a Christian can protect himself/herself from the influence of satan.

I received this book through a LibraryThing giveaway, but that does not influence my opinion.Written by Messianic Rabbi K.A. Schneider, Self-Deliverance: How to Gain Victory Over the Powers of Darkness will appeal to followers of the author's television show, Discovering the Jewish Jesus, which, according to the inside cover, is broadcast into millions of homes in the U.S. and over 200 countries around the world. It will also speak to fundamentalist Christians and others who believe that demons are real, and responsible for most of our problems and sins."The topic of demons is almost foreign in the Western Church," the Rabbi writes, and this seems true. While Bible readers will be familiar with the idea of malevolent spirits, I don't think demonic possession or power is preached heavily in today's mainstream churches.Nevertheless, the author cites many Scriptures that refer to demons and points out passages in which Jesus commands them to leave the afflicted. The Christian apologist C.S. Lewis also addressed demons and their tactics in his book, The Screwtape Letters, writing as one demon coaching another on how to deceive humans into committing sins. And someone once said--I'm unable to verify the attribution--that the greatest trick Satan ever pulled was convincing the world he doesn't exist.Christians are instructed to resist the devil (and presumably demons), so he (they) will flee from us, and the Rabbi's book discusses how to guard against sin by controlling our thoughts, claiming the authority given to believers, and other methods. I admit, I was uncomfortable when the author spoke about his personal experiences with demons, as when he wrote, "I went to sleep and I cannot explain what happened, except to say that I was attacked in my sleep by the most violent spirit that I have ever encountered. I felt as though I were a dodge ball being slammed against the four walls of my bedroom---bam! bam! bam! It was definitely supernatural and it was definitely demonic."I've never known anyone who claims to have been bodily attacked by a demon; in fact, such assaults seem more the stuff of Hollywood horror movies than real life. Can demons really do such things? According to the Bible, they used to. Do they still attack in this way today? That's for each believer / reader to decide for himself.Rabbi Schneider seems to suggest that every sin arises from demonic action; even the fear of not having enough money, he says, comes from demons (page 70). As another reviewer of this book has said, I think a lot of sin comes from within--our own misguided or willful hearts and minds-- not devils that inhabit us. The author also recounts instances when he's cast out demons, as when a woman was "screaming hysterically; her body was flailing....There was literally foam coming out of her mouth." Readers will have to decide how much credence to give to this book based on their understanding of the Scriptures and their sense of whether many of these accounts are examples of demons or hysteria at work.

Not sure how "groundbreaking" this book is - pretty standard fare and not much new that I could see. Claims to help one see what problems in one's life might be spiritual in nature and what problems might not be, but I didn't find much help in that regard. The format of the book was, to me, distracting. I am still waiting for someone to explain to me why, in deliverance ministry, there is such an emphasis on rebuking demons and battling with demons, while in the New Testament we are simply told to say no to sin, set our minds of the things of God, reckon ourselves dead to sin but alive to God, and put off sinful behavior (and put on Christ). And while we are told to resist the devil, we are never told, to my recollection, to rebuke evil spirits. I begin to think that Jude had some deliverance ministries in mind when he warned against those who, "relying on dreams . . . blaspheme what they do not understand." If even the archangel Michael "did not presume to pronounce judgment" on those in his own realm (the spiritual), then neither should I. It is Jesus who won the victory - now I must learn to stand in that victory and yield myself to him rather than to sin.
