About this audiobook
During a business visit to Count Dracula's castle in Transylvania, a young English solicitor finds himself at the center of a series of horrifying incidents.
Jonathan Harker is attacked by three phantom women, observes the Count's transformation from human to bat form, and discovers puncture wounds on his own neck that seem to have been made by teeth. Harker returns home upon his escape from Dracula's grim fortress, but a friend's strange malady - involving sleepwalking, inexplicable blood loss, and mysterious throat wounds - initiates a frantic vampire hunt.
The popularity of Bram Stoker's 1897 horror romance is as deathless as any vampire. Its supernatural appeal has spawned a host of film and stage adaptations, and more than a century after its initial publication, it continues to hold readers spellbound.
An Author's Republic audio production.
Bram Stoker
Bram Stoker (1847–1912) grew up in Ireland listening to his mother's tales of blood-drinking fairies and vampires rising from their graves. He later managed the Lyceum Theatre in London and worked as a civil servant, newspaper editor, reporter, and theater critic. Dracula, his best-known work, was published in 1897 and is hailed as one of the founding pieces of Gothic literature.

- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5The narrator was very good. Nearly every character was distinguishable by voice alone and kept the story interesting and in the forefront of the m mind throughout the reading.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I probably would have found this book to be pretty dry had I read it. This is one of the few exceptions where I think the audio book provided a better experience. I think the narrator’s Dr. Van Helsing really helped to bring to life just how desperate the situation was and would be.

- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5As an old classic I expectted it to be less accessible to those who's first language is not English. However, it was quite well written and well narrated so that anyone who enjoys gothic novels could enjoy this book as well.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Awesome. Fun listen. Dramatic voices and sounds. I listened around Halloween and it was perfect.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5The narrator made this book a good time definitely will reread with audio again. I’m obsessed.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Incredibly well done. The narration is fantastic! I would definitely recommend it.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Really excellently read production, but there remain some obvious editing mistakes. Twice, the narrator restarts a line. A third time he says "let me try that one again" then redoes the line. Puzzling to find these mistakes.
Otherwise, a very well narrated classic. - Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Narrator is absolutely brilliant. Give this man an Oscar as he made this book come to life.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Never read this before wasn't let down it was awesome
- Rating: 1 out of 5 stars1/5The voice actor was great, but the Novel is really hard to get through. There is a really long, stretched out middle part, where almost nothing happens
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5The voice actor, Gerry O’Brian was outstanding. I could not stop listening.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Not the classic I’d been led to believe. It was OK although often frustrating; one of the few times when the film is probably the better option. (24hours later) I have just watched the film and that’s not great either, I think I prefer the book although it’s disappointing in parts.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5This is an bsolute masterpiece and a classic. I loved it !!!!.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Amazing, so much better than I could have ever expected.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Started strong and had its moments throughout, but the ending was such a huge letdown, I can’t give anymore than 3-stars.
SPOILER:
Count Dracula is hyped-up to be such a powerful, devastating, and malicious character, but this is mostly through other characters simply describing him as such. Yes, there are several parts where Dracula actually demonstrates his power, but through the last 1/3 of the book, he is just asleep in his box. The heroes of the book track him down, open the box, and stab him… the end. There was so much buildup through the story, and the ending felt rushed and anticlimactic. Why would an author spend so much time telling us why the villain is so terrifying, just to have the villain remain sleeping in a box for the entire last part of the story? - Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5After listening to this I will never want to see any other vampire movie. It is true gem!
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Classic good vs evil. Full of people with bravery, compassion, and duty to fellow human kind.
The reader could not have done better. He was excellent. - Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Loved the book having never read it before. The narration was excellent. Couldn’t be mire pleased.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5A classic that everyone should read. I specially recommend read it in the night!
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I really enjoyed this book. Even if you've seen all the Dracula movies made, you need to read the book.
