About this audiobook
A guide to the pantheon of Greek and Roman gods and the myths weaved around them. Split into two parts, the first part giving biographies of the gods, the second part the famous legends.
These myths and legends are what ancient people lived and died by and have inspired the greatest works of art and literature in the world. A person does not need to be a student of the classics to benefit from and enjoy this thoughtful work.
It is not simply a repeat of the old legends but a handbook to understanding ancient Greek and Roman life with the intent of enabling us to see their gods and goddesses as they did.
An Author's Republic audio production.
E. M. Berens
E.M. Berens was a scholar and an author who wrote more than a half a dozen books on Greek and Roman mythology. Unlike other Classics scholars of his time, he wrote accessible stories that explored the myths and other oral traditions of ancient peoples rather than simply researching the history of their worship of the gods. His seminal work, The Myths and Legends of Ancient Greece and Rome, was published in 1894.
