As a single mother, Morgan sympathizes with Chelsea's family and is determined to find her. She teams up with private investigator Lance Kruger. But the deeper they dig, the deadlier their investigation gets. When Morgan is stalked by a violent predator, everything—and everyone—she holds dear is in grave danger.

Now, Morgan must track down a deranged criminal to protect her own family…but she won't need to leave home to find him. She's his next target.

Leigh has written another engaging and heart-pounding thriller in HER LAST GOODBYE. Morgan Dane is establishing herself as an independent lawyer with an office in Sharp Investigations who employs former police officer Lance Kruger. Morgan is still adjusting to her new life. She is finally able to see past the grief that consumed her with the death of her husband two years earlier when he was deployed. She is busy taking care of her three young daughters and worrying about her aging grandfather. She and Lance are starting a romance but both are so busy that it is progressing slowly. When Tim Clark comes to hire her and the Sharp Investigations to find his missing wife, a new case begins that puts Morgan and Lance in grave danger. Tim feels that the police are so fixated on him as a suspect in his wife Chelsea's disappearance that they aren't looking anywhere else. Morgan sympathizes with the young father who doesn't know what has happened to his wife. Lance, whose own father disappeared when he was eleven, wants to find Chelsea so that her family doesn't have the years of uncertainty that he had.The two investigate neighbors, Chelsea's work colleagues and friends, and Tim's work colleagues which gives them a pool of suspects. They also discover that Chelsea had her car worked on at a automotive shop where a level 3 sex offender works. While they investigate, they also have to deal with a sheriff who isn't at all in favor of independent investigators getting in the way of his officers.Chapters from the kidnappers point of view add to the suspense in this title and really ramp up the creepy. What happens to Chelsea sent chills up my spine. Fans of suspense stories with some very realistic romance will enjoy this second Morgan Dane adventure.

Melinda is an amazing writer. I am captivated at every page. The story flows well. I had to stop listening a couple times due to the anxiety I was feeling during some intense moments. I’m diving right into the next one.

What a complex personality and multiple personality of the criminals in this cases. They are people who are well known in their society yet it was difficult to distinguish however they have actively carried out theirs kidnapping, rape, and killings of the women. Who has disappeared from their community without any trace where they have been or whom was responsible until. The address did not matched and names missing from the list of employees.

This events that has taken place after the kidnapping of another woman who is married with a young baby. It shows and gives a new secret of the second group of brothers. Who in their own way have also been responsible for the death of another woman. Who was wife to one of the brothers and was killed.

This is the second book in the Morgan Dane series. I really enjoy reading about Morgan and Lance and found this to be my favorite book in the series so far. It's a quick read and fast paced. I didn't want to put it down because I wanted to find out who was behind Chelsea's abduction.Tim Clark hired Sharp Investigations to find his wife, Chelsea. He feels like the police are not making her disappearance a priority. Morgan and Lance team up to see if they can find the missing mom of two. This book was a good mix of mystery and romance. Usually I can figure out who is behind the crime, but I never guessed who had abducted Chelsea. I definitely recommend the book and Say You're Sorry (first book in the series). I can't wait to read the next book. Thanks to NetGalley, Montlake Romance and the author, Melinda Leigh, for a free electronic ARC of this novel.

    Her Last Goodbye
    4 Stars

Defense Attorney Morgan Dare and her new partner, PI Lance Kruger, investigate the disappearance of a young wife and mother at the behest of her distraught husband, who is also the prime suspect. With few leads and little help from local law enforcement, Morgan and Lance delve deeper into the woman's life only to have Morgan and her family become a target for a deranged madman.

A gripping mystery with appealing characters, but there are certain aspects of Leigh's writing that I find problematic. These are personal preferences that others might not mind, so take them with a grain of salt.

To begin with, there are some loose ends and inconsistencies within the narrative that make it difficult for the reader to follow the clues to the eventual revelation of the villain. While this does provide for some solid twists, it is the result of misleading the reader, which I personally dislike.

These issues aside, the suspense plot is intense and exciting with an excellent climax and resolution. The slow-burn romance between Morgan and Lance is also engaging as they both approach their relationship in an adult and responsible way. Morgan is a strong and resilient heroine, and Lance, her partner in every sense of the word, clearly recognizes and accepts this. He provides her with both the professional and personal support that she needs.

All in all, a great follow-up to the first book and I look forward to reading the next one.

Morgan Dane and Lance Kruger have been dancing around each other for a while now, but still haven't found enough of a reason to take their relationship to the next level. Soon enough, though, they are hired by Tim Clark, whose wife, Chelsea, has gone missing and the police have centered their investigation on him. Morgan and Lance focus their inquiry on the possibility that Chelsea has been kidnapped. When one of their suspects begins to stalk Morgan, she and Lance ramp up their investigation as well as their relationship. Her Last Goodbye is a very good suspense story with a little romance thrown in the mix. Several events throughout the story keep the pages turning in order to find out what has happened to Chelsea and who the criminal is. Unfortunately, the relationship between Morgan and Lance only occupies a small part of the book, as the mystery develops and moves the story quickly forward. The reader is taken along throughout the investigation, but the third person POV keeps the characters at arms length instead of bringing them to life. Overall, Her Last Goodbye is enjoyable and keeps the reader guessing right to the very end.

Chelsea Clark, a loving young mother to two young children, disappears. When the police focus on her husband Tim, he hires Morgan Dane, an attorney. Morgan, a widow with three children, teams up with Lance Kurger, a retired cop and P.I. to investigate. As they uncover things, and poke into the wrong anthills, Morgan finds herself becoming a target of a stalker and possible kidnapper. Will they find Chelsea before she ends up dead?

Her Last Goodbye is the second book in the Morgan Dane series by Melinda Leigh. This book finds Lance and Morgan becoming closer in their personal relationship. Morgan's sisters also make an appearance in this story showing how close and loyal they are to family. I enjoyed meeting Morgan's youngest daughter as well. She is a cutie who is a bit leary of some, but not all. When she is scared, her actions and feelings will melt your heart. This book was a thriller that has a few small twists and a huge one near the end. I had an inkling something big was coming and I was right. I really enjoyed the plot and the quick pace of this story. The romance part of the book is not a huge story line, but meshes well with the action that is taking place. This is the second book in the series, but you can read it as a standalone, however, I loved the first book as well and recommend not missing any. I listened to the audio book that was available on Kindle Unlimited and it was very well done, once again, pulling me in to the action just a bit more than reading it. I am looking forward to picking up the next one in this series, Bones Don't Lie.
