About this audiobook

The Porn Myth is a non-religious response to the commonly held belief that pornography is a harmless or even beneficial pastime. Author Matt Fradd draws on the experience of porn performers and users, and the expertise of neurologists, sociologists, and psychologists to demonstrate that pornography is destructive to individuals, relationships, and society. He provides insightful arguments, supported by the latest scientific research, to discredit the fanciful claims used to defend and promote pornography.

This book explains the neurological reasons porn is addictive, helps individuals learn how to be free of porn, and offers real help to the parents and the spouses of porn users. Because recent research on pornography's harmful effects on the brain validates the experiences of countless porn users, there is a growing wave of passionate individuals trying to change the pro-porn cultural norm-by inspiring others to pursue real love and to avoid its hollow counterfeit.

Matt Fradd and this book are part of that movement, which is aiding the many men and women who are seeking a love untainted by warped perceptions of intimacy and rejecting the influence of porn in their lives.

This. Book. Period. But honestly, everyone needs to read about the myths surrounding pornography and its effects. Sexualization is everywhere; we are sexual beings living in a hyper-sexualized culture. Human sexuality is a beautiful and wonderful gift that can be sadly misused and thus exploited. Coming from a logical and thoroughly researched perspective, Matt Fradd outdoes himself in this invaluable resource for all.

The book has some solid points such as the porn industry's unacceptable human trafficking and negative effect of porn addiction on couples. That said, it seems to be written for those who already have a spouse or already in a relationship.

This book should be re titled "The feminists guide book to pornogrpahy". If you want to be made to feel guilty, be compared to drug addicts, psychopaths, serial killers, paedophiles and rapists for masturbating, then please feel free to listen. I wish I had not wasted 5 hours listening to how the authors biased opinion with very little science based argument feels about their personal thoughts on porn. But im sure they will blame my opinion on my debilitating porn addiction...

This book is appallingly bad. I am not defending pornography, there is clearly a lot wrong with it and the fact that it is so easily available is a problem we as society will be dealing with for many years to come.

However, the tone of this book is the main problem for me. A very black and white view of the problem where everyone is guilty no matter what. This is a viewpoint I despise in any argument because the world and human behaviour is not that simple. The narrator of this audiobook might have an influence on this as it just sounds like your are being told off by an angry parent for the whole book.

A far superior critique of pornography can be found by reading Chris Hedges. He discusses this topic in 'Empire of Illusion' (which annoyingly isn't on this site) but there is also a very good chapter about pornography in the USA in his book 'America the farewell tour' which I highly recommend and is available here.
