A new amateur sleuth is on the case in the first book of the Geeks and Things Cozy Mystery novella series.

Small-town life brings big-city problems when Kalina Greystone returns home to Ellesworth, MA to take over the family's comic book shop. A murder in plain sight at the annual Solstice Fair pushes Kalina to snoop where she doesn't belong--much to the chagrin of former high school sweetheart, Detective Christian Harper.

As Kalina digs into the victim's past, she uncovers a dark truth that the victim and her closest friends were hoping to take the grave. A truth the killer wants revealed.

Will Kalina and Chris catch the killer before the killer's thirst for vengeance is sated?

I liked it… Although I must say, I’m growing tired of every single cozy mystery written in the genre to follow the same template of the amateur sleuth becoming romantically involved with the detective. It is just as cliché as The person standing in front of the medicine cabinet with the mirror in every horror movie.

I like the way she writes, but the story is just too thin and too obvious for my taste. A woman inherits the comic shop of her father, goes back to the town she grew up in and, despite having not been there in a long time and not having any criminological background, solves the case of a triple murder singlehandedly. Meanwhile her former boyfriend and now police detective is attractive and nice, but absolutly clueless. But it was a nice enough story to listen to while on a long drive, so I don‘t want to sound too picky.

Nice little story. Not long but well done enough that you didn't have it figured out in the first few pages. Pacing seemed a little forced since every thing took place in about 36 hours.
