This was my first book from Ms. Diamond and I really enjoyed it. Good story and character building, and think I will finish this series in e-format. The narrator was okay and had moments that he did well, but his performance did not feel natural for these characters. In addition, I was not pleased at all to learn that he is a white gentleman chosen to narrate a Black romance, because it made a difference…interpretation and delivery of much of the dialogue was not authentic to Black culture.

I haven't been able to finish an audiobook lately, but this one was different. I finished this one in 3 days! It feels like a soap opera, but in the best...most exciting way. Due to the quality of the writing, I cared about these people.
The narrator definitely grew on me. At first I thought not casting a narrator of the same culture as the characters in the book was a mistake. Sure, a few 'inside jokes' and cultural associations were missed... and maybe the British accent needs a 'lil work...but after the first few chapters, he won me over with his resonant voice and acting skills. I laughed quite a bit, which I didn't expect. I think it was a mixture of the writing and the narrator's delivery---whether intentionally funny or not.

Lord knows I wish these authors could learn how to pick narrators and ones who’s voices can match the characters they create. A narrator can absolutely ruin a great book! I care not to hear this narrator again!

Loved the story, but after reading a few books from this author, I've realized that the endings of her stories tend to be rushed and anticlimactic. Other than that, I'm still fast becoming a fan!
