About this audiobook

After losing her parents in a car accident and her sister to a house fire, Christy Reed has been mired in grief. Life is finally starting to feel normal again when an envelope arrives in the mail--addressed in her sister's handwriting. And the note inside claims she is still alive. FBI Special Agent Lance McGregor, a former Delta Force operator, is assigned to reopen the case, but he's coming up with more questions than answers. If Ginny Reed is still alive--who is the woman buried in her grave? Where is Ginny? And is Christy a pawn in a twisted cat-and-mouse game--or the target of a sinister plot? As he digs deeper, one thing becomes clear: whoever is behind the bizarre ruse has a deadly agenda. Bestselling author and two-time Christy Award finalist Irene Hannon warms readers' hearts as they root for a romance between Lance and Christy, but she pulls out all the stops as this high-stakes thriller chills to the bone in a race to the finish.

I enjoyed the book. Well written story.

I've read other books by this author and liked them well enough to put her previous titles on my TBR list. This is one of those titles. 3 McGregor brothers; 3 books in the series--you do the math. This book's main male character is Lance McGregor, a former Delta Force operator who is now with the FBI (and just happens to get assigned to St. Louis Field Office, near where his older brother (and other Hannon characters) live. Lance's first real FBI assignment has him investigating whether former competitive ice skater Christy Reed's sister died in a fire when Christy gets an envelope months later addressed in her sister's handwriting. I do appreciate that Hannon's heroes do try to keep their interest on a professional level until the case is solved and there's not tons of belaboring of the point that there is attraction "but she's a client". I don't like that Hannon's characters end up in serious relationships (engagements and sometimes marriages) after knowing each other for only short periods of time. Also, after 8 books, I'm tiring of the female main character always ending up in the clutches of the villain and having to wait for the male main character and his cronies to come rescue her.

A very suspenseful book that leaves you guessing to the truth and what will occur next. Christy is trying to get back to a normal life after losing her family in a series of tragic accidents that are looking like they are not accidents after all. She winds up working with FBI Special Agent Lance McGregor to sort it all out and to keep herself safe as well. I great book that had me wanting to find out what would happen and why it was happening. I received a copy of this book free to review from the publisher.

Title: Thin Ice (Men of Valor #2)Author: Irene HannonPages: 394Year: 2016Publisher: RevellLance MacGregor is a rookie FBI agent assigned his first case. He has joined the FBI after retiring from the Special Forces. His first case is a possible kidnapping of a woman named Ginny Reed. The woman’s sister, Christy Reed, received a letter from her sister dated two months after her death. Then she receives another and another. Lance must investigate to find out if this is in fact a kidnapping or a cruel hoax. He also has moved to the same town as his older brother Mac, so he is adjusting to a new city, a new job and his first case. He has strayed from his relationship with God, but with Christy’s encouragement renews his faith. He also learns of a very serious accident involving his younger brother and rushes to the hospital 900 miles away where he has been transferred. Lance and Christy immediately feel a spark between them, but agree they must keep things professional until Christy’s case is solved.Christy Reed is a former Olympic figure skating team member, who in the span of nine months lost her parents in a car accident and then a few months later she lost her sister in a house fire. Then she receives a letter in her sister’s handwriting two months after her alleged death. The letter warns her not to contact the authorities, but Christy knows she is out of her depth. She discreetly contacts the FBI and meets the agent in charge of her case, Lance MacGregor. She immediately feels confident in his abilities and that she can trust him. As the case gets more mysteriously and threatening for Christy, the bond she feels toward Lance and vice versa strengthens. Can this bond outlast a killer out for his next victim, which just happens to be Christy? The pace of this story was quick and kept me turning the pages quickly to find out what was going to happen next. There was suspense, mystery, romance, grief, and tension throughout the story. The faith these two main characters display, especially Christy after enduring so much loss in her life, made the story so enjoyable for me. I thought the criminal’s character very realistic and believable. I can’t wait for Finn’s story in book three of the series! My rating is 5 stars.Disclosure of Material Connection: I received one or more of the products or services mentioned above for free in the hope that I would mention it on my blog.
