About this audiobook

Millie Barnes is this close to finally achieving her perfect life. Rewarding job as a local doctor on Cape Cod? Check. Cute cottage of her very own? Check. Adorable dog suitable for walks past attractive locals? Check! All she needs is for golden boy and former crush Joe Carpenter to notice her, and Millie will be set. But perfection isn't as easy as it looks-especially when Sam Nickerson, a local policeman, is so distracting. He is definitely not part of her master plan. But maybe it's time for Millie to make a new plan..

Millie returns to Cape Cod and sets her plan to make HS crush Joe Carpenter notice her in motion; except her sister's ex-husband, Nick, seems to continually turn up. Would he be better husband material than Joe?

3 1/2 Good, but I think some of it could have been cut out, still a really good story though. Loved the ending :)

Millie Barnes has returned to Cape Cod, a newly minted GP, set on capturing the man she thinks she loves. The story is amusing as she discovers her hero is less than that, and true love with someone very close. Plot spoiler...Kristen Hihhins has a thing about ex-brothers-in-law.

This was a light, fluffy, chick-lit kind of read. Perfect for a lazy, hot summer day.

I started this book without reading the synopsis first, which made for a pretty interesting experience, as (for once!) I got to figure out who the love interest was myself. (Seriously, publishers, please don't give away the love interest of a story so breezily in the synopsis? It takes away from my investment in the story.) I wasn't such a fan of Millie, with her fanatical obsession with Joe Carpenter and misguided attempts to catch his attention. As a result, I wasn't as involved in her romantic and personal development. Still, you know, a fairly fun read, though I felt that this Higgins female protagonist was somewhat more annoying than her other ones.

I found this to be a delightful, funny story. It more plain fiction than romance as we never hear the corresponding viewpoint of the men. The heroines friends, family, loves, aquaintences and dog all round out the story as we see her grow over the course of approx. 9 months. She starts a new career, makes herself over and finds joy and embarrassment and pain but ultimately joy. A person could call it chick lit but only if they also use the term dick lit for books typically written by and targeting men as they're audience. Otherwise, it is all simply fiction.

Not my favorite of the books I have read by Kristan Higgins. Just OK.

I enjoyed this book, it was predictable, and I figured out the main plot points fairly early in the story.  The characters are a little 2 dimensional, with no major growth, but they were not so boring as to have me stop reading the store.  Overall a nice fluffy read, which lived up to my expectations.  I will look for more books by this author, if for nothing else but a fun light read.
