About this audiobook

From subway to Broadway to happily ever after. Modern love in all its thrill, hilarity, and uncertainty has never been so compulsively readable as in New York Times bestselling author Christina Lauren’s Roomies.

Marriages of convenience are so...inconvenient.

For months Holland Bakker has invented excuses to descend into the subway station near her apartment, drawn to the captivating music performed by her street musician crush. Lacking the nerve to actually talk to the gorgeous stranger, fate steps in one night in the form of a drunken attacker. Calvin Mcloughlin rescues her, but quickly disappears when the police start asking questions.

Using the only resource she has to pay the brilliant musician back, Holland gets Calvin an audition with her uncle, Broadway’s hottest musical director. When the tryout goes better than even Holland could have imagined, Calvin is set for a great entry into Broadway—until his reason for disappearing earlier becomes clear: he’s in the country illegally, his student visa having expired years ago.

Seeing that her uncle needs Calvin as much as Calvin needs him, a wild idea takes hold of her. Impulsively, she marries the Irishman, her infatuation a secret only to him. As their relationship evolves and Calvin becomes the darling of Broadway—in the middle of the theatrics and the acting-not-acting—will Holland and Calvin to realize that they both stopped pretending a long time ago?

I was really into this story BUT the narrator made it so difficult for me to listen. Her cadence is so hard to follow and is a distraction. She was all over the place within the same paragraph and she would change her voice constantly.

I can't get past the sing-song up and down of the narration. It's so bad. I may try to read this instead.

Half way through and enjoying the story but really disliking the Narrator. She has no emotion in her reading and her tone very repetitive, finding it hard to get through her reading, but her voices and accents are nice.

Couldn't get through the unchanging cadence in which the narrator was reading the book, it is more like she is reading the book to you, than actually telling you the story, which is pretty weird since it is written in first person, may give it a try as a ebook or physical book.

I like the story, but this narrator is killing me. When she is doing dialogue it’s great, but all the rest of the time it is so sing song and repetitive that I almost feel nauseous. It makes it SO hard to listen to.

great story but the narrator needed to work more on their delivery as she spoke too quickly in the beginning.

Narrator is terrible. She is obviously Irish and the character is a new Yorker. The Heroine is weak and shows sparks of strength and growth but doesn't do much with it. Sorry. Big fan of Christina and Lauren just not this one.

Loved the accents in the audiobook. Made it that much more real to the listener and distinguished between the characters more clearly too. A fun read that also had the reader looking inward as well by all that Holland goes through in her journey. A great read for chick lit and romance fans.

The narrator really bothered me with her inflections so affected my listening for the beginning of the book. It’s a great story though. Not my favorite of theirs, but still recommend for a light read.

I wish it didn't feel like it ended so abruptly. I also wish there was more of a PG version so I would be able to listen while my children are in ear shot.

This one just didn't work for me. I listened up to the 40% mark then went straight to the final chapter. Story was slow going and I got bored.

This was a good story for the most part. I think it could have been less drug out in places. There were a lot of dead zones.

I really enjoyed the story and tone of the book. The ending was perfect. Felt a little drawn out at times. The narrator was rough a few times. Inconsistent with accents and voices. Sometimes couldn’t tell who was speaking. The Irish accent was all over the place.

Christina Lauren never fail to produce a fun, flirty and damn right sexy romance novel for their readers to devour. This story of love had me smiling, blushing and waiting for more endless sexting. Great read!

It was okay. I enjoyed the book up until the end. The heroine sees a picture of hero and another woman and immediately jumps to conclusion.
Assumptions with no communication tends to annoy mr

Very fun romance, listened to the audiobook and really enjoyed the narrator.

I liked the love story between Holland and Calvin some parts went a little bit too fast for my liking sometimes and the miscommunication was annoying from time to time. I also would have loved an epilouge because I want to know how the show went in LA and how Holland and Calvin are doing 6 months to a year later.

I absolutely loved Holland's uncles I loved their relationship it was honestly couple goals. On the otherhand I absolutely hated Lulu, she was a horrible friend most of the time, she was hellbent on embarrassing Holland infront of her uncles and Calvin.

    Marriage of convenience
    Strangers to friends to lovers
    Forced proximity
    Musician

Holland has basically been a borderline stalker of Calvin's since she heard him play in the subway so many months ago. Now she walks past where he plays at the same time each day just to catch his eye, except one day it doesn't go exactly to plan and she ends up in hospital with no statement from the only witness. Calvin.

Calvin has secrets and Holland wants to find out. To top it off the musician in the show she works for just quit and they have no backup. That's when a deal is made. One Calvin would be silly to turn down.

I loved the humour that Christina Lauren always brings to the table and there was no missing that in Roomies. The dynamic between Calvin and Holland was easy and fluid, their friendship naturally progressed to so much more and I was rooting for them to get there quicker. Unfortunately, there wasn't much spice. There was some hinting at what occurred and then a spice scene near the end but I wanted moreeeeee.
