- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Cute book. I have to agree it's a little bit of "Are you my mother?" Max is a cat that is tired of being thought of as cute. He wants to bravely stalk and chase a mouse, but he has no idea what a mouse looks like. We follow Max on his quest to find and catch a mouse. I really loved Max's expressions. Cute illustrations and a book pre-schoolers would love to learn simple words from. They will surely ask to be read this one over again.
Thank you Netgalley for letting me read and review this book. - Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5A cute book for Preschoolers through Grade 2.Max is very brave, very black kitten who chases mice. Problem is, Max doesn’t know what a mouse looks like. So off he goes in search mouse. Since this is such a short book, I don’t want to be a spoiler. You’ll just have to read it to find out what obstacles get in Max’s way.I give Max the Brave 5 out of 5 stars.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Determined to be heroic, rather than sweet, Max the kitten goes in search of a mouse to hunt, since hunting mice is what brave cats do. Not sure just what a mouse looks like, Max interrogates a number of creatures, asking each one whether they are a mouse. When he finally does meet a mouse, that enterprising little creature assures him that he is a monster, and that the mouse Max is looking for is actually the sleeping monster nearby...An amusing tale of a kitten's search for the correct way to be (as well as a clever mouse's misdirection) Max the Brave will appeal to young children who will enjoy being "in the know,' when it comes to the titular feline hero's attempts to discover just what a mouse looks like. The illustrations, which look like they might be some sort of wood or block print (not sure about the medium - I really wish publishers always provided that information on the colophon!), is colorful and appealing, reminding me a bit of Chris Haughton and Zachariah Ohora's work. Recommended to younger children who love cats, or to anyone looking for humorous picture-books with a super-hero and/or feline theme.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Max the Brave is an adorable book about a Kitten named Max who is trying to find out what a mouse is so that he can be brave and chase it. The book is wonderful - Max is a little black kitten in search of a mouse - only he is asking all the animals if they are a mouse, so it takes him a long time to finally encounter one.The book is very vibrant with color - the pages are all different bright hues to draw a young eye, Max stands out against the bright background and his inquisitive nature is charming. The story also allows for learning some animals, since they are not mice as Max asks around. There are words in the book it is not just pictures and this does lend to a very cute story that I think parents and young children will enjoy reading and looking at.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Cute story of Max the Brave who is a mouse hunter but does not know what a mouse looks like. He is curious and will ask questions as he searches for a mouse. When he gets a scare, he realizes he does not have to be the mighty mouse hunter, Max the Brave. He just needs to know he can be if necessary. Great illustrations. I loved Max the Brave in his superhero cape. Great for your young ones.
