About this audiobook

Vaughn Johansson is the Nashville Assassins' star player. He's brash, cocky, and talented. And he isn't afraid to let anyone know it. He lives his life on his own terms, never forming romantic attachments, and only allowing his very closest to see his true, caring self.

Brie Soledad has the weight of the world on her shoulders. As the staff reporter for the Assassins, she balances her high-profile job and its heavy travel schedule with being the sole provider for her adult brother with Down syndrome. Sure, she'd like to find love. But who has time for that when there are bills to pay?

Brie has been the match to Vaughn's gasoline since the day she first held out her microphone to him. They strike sparks off each other, keeping their friends, the team, and the Assassins fans in stitches. Brie's refusal to fawn over Vaughn sets his teeth on edge and his blood boiling. Especially in that body part . . .

Brie's been let down by love before, but she knows she deserves nothing less than real, forever love. Vaughn's past has left deep, hidden scars, and there are some secrets he cannot bear to reveal. As much as Brie wants him, Vaughn may be too big a risk for her wary heart to take.

Toni Aleo

My name is Toni Aleo, and I’m a #PredHead, #sherrio, #potterhead, and part of the #familybusiness! I am also a wife to my amazing husband, mother of a wrestler and a gymnast, and also a fur momma to Gaston el Papillon. You can usually find me hollering for the whole Nashville Predators, since I’ll never give my heart to one player again. When I’m not in the gym getting swole, I’m usually writing, trying to make my dreams a reality, or being a taxi for my kids. I’m obsessed with Harry Potter, Supernatural, Disney, and anything that sparkles! I’m pretty sure I was Belle in a past life, and if I could be on any show it would be Supernatural, so I could hunt with Sam and Dean. Also, I did mention I love hockey, right?

Toni Aleo is on a winning streak with DELAYED CALL, the eleventh book in the Assassins series. NHL star, Vaughn Johansson and Assassins' staff reporter, Brie Soledad, would both agree that they are each other’s nemesis, but situations arise that cause them to have to play nice. This contemporary sports romance is suitable for adult audiences. It takes place in Nashville, Tennessee. I have been looking forward to hearing Vaughn’s and Brie’s story since the previous book. I love the banter of their interviews. I enjoyed that they start out as enemies. Both characters have a lot of depth. They have great chemistry. Vaughn and Brie are both amazing characters with big hearts. They misjudge each other and end up having a lot in common. I love that Vaughn adopted Tricksie and how he came up with her name. I like the introduction of Jensen Monroe. He is a terrific friend and roommate. Brie’s brother, Rodney, is a wonderful character. He understandably wants to be treated as an adult. Having Down syndrome and some health issues prevents him from being able to be left on his own. I love the concept of NateWay. I have a few friends who work for Misericordia in Chicago. NateWay reminded me of that on a smaller and more specialized scale. Both are wonderful organizations. I was impressed by everything that Vaughn did. He really is an amazing guy.Toni Aleo did an incredible job with the plot. DELAYED CALL flowed well. It was heartfelt with interesting twists. I loved the ending; it was sweet and well resolved. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.
