About this audiobook

Stone Barrington is pulled along for the ride when a friend pursues a perilous course of vengeance in the newest novel from #1 New York Times–bestselling author Stuart Woods.

In the wake of a personal tragedy, former CIA operative Teddy Fay—now a successful Hollywood film producer known as Billy Barnett—takes a leave of absence to travel and grieve, and lands in Santa Fe in the company of his friends Stone Barrington and Ed Eagle. There, fate hands him an unexpected opportunity to exact quiet revenge for his recent loss, from a man who helped to cover up the crime.

But when his enemy wises up to Teddy's machinations, a discreet game of sabotage escalates to a potentially lethal battle. From the arid splendor of the New Mexico desert to the glamour of Hollywood's rolling hills, it will take all of Stone Barrington's diplomacy and skill to maneuver for Teddy's advantage while keeping innocents out of the crossfire.

Stone Barrington makes an inconsequential cameo appearance in this book. It’s mostly about Teddy Fay, a character that Stone was able to procure a Presidential pardon for in an earlier volume. Fay’s wife is killed in an auto accident by a drunk Hollywood actress and director’s wife. Fay decides to get revenge against the Hollywood director (Dax) and retribution Fay does deliver. The tone of this Barrington book is much darker and violent and frankly the story is much better. Throw in some dastardly thugs and Russian hit men that Fay is able to overcome and you have the makings of a “Death Wish” type novel.

Should be called a Teddy Fey Novel not a Stone Barrington. Other than a notional appearance, passing through, getting a girlfriend, Stone Barrington does nothing in this novel. It's all about Teddy Fay getting revenge. Other characters include a Russian hit man, his brother and a vengeful Hollywood man. there's a lot of Santa Fe in it. Woods has done some pretty good research; he must have visited there. However, we can always count on one mistake. In this one, the death penalty is threatened by a lawyer who should know that NM doesn't do that.

I had mixed feelings about this book. It was advertised as book #44 in the Stone Barrington series but it should have been sold as Book #2 in the Teddy Fay series. I see there is a real book 2 in that series coming out later this year...so... Stone had a very small part and only showed up occasionally and mostly from a bed. Teddy Fay is without a doubt one of the most fascinating characters that Stuart Woods has ever come up with. I thought from the first time we met him that he should have his own series. Reading this man in action is better than watching a James Bond movie. Again... the biggest problem... that seemed entirely unnecessary to the story line... was that Woods...again...made all the major players into sex starved maniacs. I'm sorry Mr. Woods but not every human being is just waiting to bed the woman or man that they have only just met. That lost your book a star. Great story and a really good character in Teddy Fay if you can overlook the unnecessary sex parts.

I enjoyed this little story! It was upbeat despite the subject matter, fast moving and fun with a number of cute one liners. There were several positive love story lines going on around the main topic, which was generalized cat and mouse murder and mayhem! The narrator was good, and I enjoyed listening to him. He did a fine job with the different character accents involved. Overall, this is a fun, lighthearted, easy listen with a tidy, well wrapped up ending. I chose this book partly because I really liked the cover which, in this case, turned out well! (Although they say ‘don’t judge a book by it’s cover’, I often do, and and am seldom disappointed...!).

A Teddy Fay episode in this always entertaining series. The Stone Barrington cameos are as expected; continuing his high living and lively sex life.No mysteries here but lots of serious bad guys, some Russian, some not as Teddy deals with his life after his wife is killed by a drunk driver.

When Billy Barnett’s wife, Betsy, is run down in a crosswalk by the drunk driving wife of a Hollywood movie producer, Billy [also known as Teddy Fay] takes a leave of absence and ends up in Santa Fe, New Mexico where the egotistical movie producer [who’s stashed his wife in a rehab facility] is making a film on location. Using the alias Ted Shirley, Teddy applies for a position as part of the production crew for Dax Baxter and meets the lovey Sally Ryder. When Dax realizes that Ted Shirley is not who he claims to be, and his paranoia gets the better of him, he hires the Russian to do away with Teddy. But Teddy’s CIA training comes in handy and he handily thwarts an attempt against his life. But will he be able to hold out when the Russian, now seriously angry, brings in a friend to help get rid of Teddy for good?Although this is the forty-fourth Stone Barrington tale, Teddy is the central focus of the story, leaving Stone [this time keeping company with the lovely Anastasia “Ana” Bounine] and Ed Eagle to play largely supporting roles. As always, the escapades of the uber-rich, filled with fine food, private jets, and a great deal of sex, fall into place before the final page and the good guys win again. Nevertheless, this quick read provides some interesting insight into the Billy Barnett/Teddy Fay character. It’s an intriguing tale filled with enough plot twists and turns to keep readers engaged; all in all, a worthy addition to the oeuvre of Barrington tales.Recommended.

Unbound is a book that takes place in present day time. It's main locations are Santa Fe, New Mexico and Los Angeles, California. It is a story that keeps its tempo and pace from the beginning to the end. The story has a clear end. There is humor on occasion. It is a murder story but the reader knows who the murder is but the characters do not.

Unbound is a Stone Barrington novel, but only because Stone appears in the book. This is really about Teddy Fay, aka Billy Barnett. Billy's wife, Betsy, has been killed by a drunk driver, and the driver's husband is a rich, unlikable movie producer, Dax Baxter. Dax covers up his wife's condition, and no charges are brought against her.
Teddy wants revenge, so he goes after Dax. The novel goes between Santa Fe and Hollywood.
Another typical Stuart Woods, lots of action, lots of unreal fights/situations/sex/relationships.
