About this audiobook
Lynn McBride has learned much since society collapsed in the face of nuclear war and the relentless spread of disease. As the memories of her old life continue to surface, she’s forced to forge ahead in the snow-drifted Canadian Yukon, learning how to hunt and trap and slaughter. Forget the old days. Forget summer. Forget warmth. Forget anything that doesn’t help you survive in the endless white wilderness beyond the edges of a fallen world.
Shadows of the world before have found her tiny community—most prominently in the enigmatic figure of Jax, who brings with him dark secrets of the past and sets in motion a chain of events that will call Lynn to a role she never imagined.
“With elements of Cormac McCarthy’s The Road and TV’s The Walking Dead, (Kirkus Reviews) The Wolves of Winter is both a heartbreaking, sympathetic portrait of a young woman searching for the answer to who she's meant to be and a frightening vision of a merciless new world in which desperation rules. It is enthralling, propulsive, and poignant.
Editor's Note
Gritty survival story…
The official description of this debut says it’s “Station Eleven” meets “Hunger Games,” and it’s easy to feel the presence of those works here. But the atmosphere of this is much more like a traditional thriller, and it speaks to some of our worst fears about nuclear war.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Best frozen frontier dystopia with raw action and a realistic fight for life. This follows a young female lead who willfully walks her own path and leads the reader through her journey to discovering her true purpose while surviving the wilderness. She takes every step as if learning and becoming stronger as she loves in the frozen landscape. Eventually she runs into trouble dnd turmoil with her family and surprise guest which lead this story into a surprising twist. The narrator rocks the plot with deep emotion and carries the story into another world. There are other characters that are true to story and make the narration arc in many different paths but all come to the same ending. The author really makes the reader feel the emotion and care for each character. Anyone looking for a survival, dystopian with a personal and original story, this is it.
